FAST Meets St. Petersburg’s Police Department Chief Charles E. Harmon |
Hello Everyone,
Below is a special message written by me about FAST (Faith and Action for Strength Together) leaders meeting with St. Petersburg’s Police Department Chief Charles E. Harmon. This article was originally written and posted on my The Constituent” site on May 01, 2008. It is a successful move for the members of FAST and all Pinellas County's residents as well. --- In yesterday and today’s issues of the St. Petersburg Times there were articles on a private meeting of FAST (Faith and Action for Strength Together) with St. Petersburg’s Police Department Chief Charles E. Harmon. As Chief Harmon had declaimed to attend previous meetings with FAST, today’s meeting ended a two-year wait and the speculation that the St. Petersburg Police Department lacked interest in supporting the communities that it serves. Today’s meeting opened the line of communication with Chief Harmon and the possibility of future support on the initiatives involving more representation from the police department in investigating and ending the raise of illegal drugs on the corners of our neighborhood streets, and the prevention violence crimes in all areas of the city. According to today’s article, Chief Harmon accepted some 37 “Hot Spot” cards from FAST congregational leaders, and made a commitment to investigate each one. These 37 “Hot Spot” cards identify areas in city that have been friequestly reported for illegal and disruptive actions. Although Harmon did not commit of attending the Nehemiah meeting schedule for next year, the members of FAST, congregational members and participates, were bolstered by Chief Charles E. Harmon and the other members of the police department attendance. Evelyn F. Altheimer-Fain.
