The following letter was received on June 28, 2002 to Denny Cavanaugh (66) of the Austin Alumni Foundation

On behalf of the faculty and students of St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School, I extend to our Austin Alumni heartfelt thanks for your desire to develop a scholarship program benefiting Catholic families who would like to have their children receive a Catholic education but find the financial commitment very difficult.

Because of your successful golf outing, I was able to offer two eighteen hundred dollar scholarships to two different Catholic families, one with two children and the other with a single child who had just suffered the loss of his father. The dolalr amount of the scholarships was based on a number that is approximately half of the cost per pupil for this coming school year. These scholarships will be identified in our school information packets as the Austin Alumni Association Scholarships henceforth!

Again, I am eternally grateful for your support and your desire to help us continue the tradition of excellence in Catholic education here at St. Clare of Montefalco in this our seventy-fifth year.
