Terra Nova Terra Nova is a nationally standardized achievement test which is given to students in second, fourth, sixth and eighth grades each spring. Students are assessed in reading, language, and math. In Grades 2 and 4, students also complete the Test of Cognitive Skills, which measures thinking skills. These tests allow district and student achievement to be compared with the performance of other students in the nation, and also tell how well students are mastering skills in these subjects.
