The children were truly outstanding in everything they did and there was a very joyful and enthusiastic spirit that morning. We are greatly blessed at Holy Rood with such a fine and dedicated group of servers. Well done to them and well done to their families for giving them such good support. Christ The King 2007
The children’s involvement at 9.30 Mass for the Feast of Christ The King was one of the best things ever (in a very long and auspicious list!) done by children in Holy Rood Church. Over 50 children from Holy Rood School did all the music for the Mass by singing and playing a variety of instruments in a mini ‘orchestra’. The sheer quality of this singing, musicianship and artwork was absolutely superb. What came over as well was the enthusiasm of everyone involved that really struck people lucky enough to be there. It was just a joy to be there.
We would like to say an enormous thank you to the children involved and to Helen Walker, Mr and Mrs Cooper and the Walker family, for giving up so much of their time, efforts and talents in weeks of practice beforehand. When we are enthusiastic for the things of God in this way then an abundance of good things always follows. Just click on the smaller image above to see the pictures!

First Holy Communion 2007
First Holy Communion Day was as great an occasion as ever for the children who received Our Blessed Lord for the very first time. They did so with great reverence and respect, a result of the very good preparation they have had at school and in the parish. Many thanks to everyone who helped in any way with preparing the children, the refreshments back at school, the flowers and the music, the photographs and the childrens’ prayer partners. We pray that this sacrament will bring many blessings on these children and their families and we look forward next to that other great sacrament, Confirmation on July 12th for many of our Y6 children. Our Wonderul Children's Liturgy Team

The children’s liturgy at Holy Rood is known throughout the Diocese for its excellent practice with large numbers of children participating each week. The children are split into three groups : one to prepare children for Confirmation, another for first Holy Communion and the third for everyone else. None of this would be possible without the fantastic liturgy team who freely give of their time and talents. The parish is eternally grateful to them.
