STANDING RULES

STANDING RULES

Revised September 2007

ST. ANN’S COURT #1121

CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAS

1.        Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month, with the exception of July and August.

2.        The meeting will typically consist of a program/speaker, praying the Rosary, a business meeting, and refreshments.

3.        Unless members are notified otherwise, meetings will be held in the Ss Peter & Paul Church Basement, except the April meeting which is held at St. John’s Catholic Church Hall in Ft. Pierre.

4.        The Ss Peter & Paul Pastor will serve as the Court Chaplain.

5.        CDA Priest Appreciation Day is observed the first Sunday in June.  Monetary gifts are given to the Ss Peter & Paul pastor ($100), associate pastor ($50), and deacon ($50), the Ft. Pierre pastor ($50), and the Blessed Kateri pastor ($25).

6.        An appreciation day for the nuns at St. Joseph School and Convent is observed on CDA Sunday.  The nuns are invited to the CDA membership’s celebration and are given a monetary gift of $50 each.

7.        A minimum of 1 fundraising project is conducted each year- with the type of activity and dates to be determined by the membership.

8.        Reception of new members is held in June, unless the number of candidates mandates doing another reception earlier in the year.  The reception will be combined with installation of officers during years when officers need to be installed.  New members will recite the pledge and receive a CDA pin from the court at their first meeting as a member.

9.        When a member of the Court dies, the Court will have a Mass said for the repose of her soul.  Before the funeral the membership present will recite the Rosary.  Court Officers present will wear their robes to the funeral.  At the end of the funeral, the CDA members present will provide Honor Guard in the church for the family. On the death of an immediate family member (husband, child, parent) a mass will be offered or a Mass stipend given to the family.

10.     When a member of the court suffers illness or death of a loved one, members are to notify the Cheer Committee members so that cards of concern may be sent to the member.  In cases of serious and life-threatening illness, the court will have a Mass said for the ill member.

11.     Members will host and support 2 blood-drives annually in conjunction with United Blood Service.

12.     At the time of a death in the parishes of Ss Peter & Paul or St. John, the Regent will activate the Phone Tree so that all members may be notified of the time of the prayer service, if any, and the funeral.  CDA members will gather before the funeral, wear CDA Buttons, and sit together, offering their prayers for the deceased and their family.

13.     The Regent and those members elected to delegate status for the State Convention will have their registration fees, travel expense, and room paid for by the court.

14.     The Court will select a seminarian(s) to adopt each year, offering them letters, cards, and may offer a monetary gift at Christmas, if so determined by the membership.

15.     The following honorariums will be presented to Non-CDA Members who assist in CDA liturgies: $10 for altar servers, $25 for organist/pianist, $25 for songleader, and $25 for District Deputy.  A mass will be scheduled for the intention of the priest who celebrates the liturgy.
