The President's Medallion is the Catholic Academy's highest honor, recognizing lifetime achievement and service to Catholic communications. It was bestowed during the awards luncheon May 26 at the 2006 Catholic Media Convocation in Nashville. Msgr. Maniscalso has served as director of the Communications Department of the USCCB for more than 10 years. In presenting the award Jeanean Merkel, Catholic Academy president, said Msgr. Maniscalco has led "a number of major initiatives" in Catholic communications, including the 1997 National Strategic Plan for Communications.
