East DuPage Deanery Council of Catholic Women at 300 S Cornell, Villa Park, IL 60181 US - Home

Welcome to Our Website

Most of the 22 EDD women who attended the 2011 National Convention of the National Council of Catholic Women are pictured at right: l-r 1st row: Pat Murrin, Rhonda Kollman, Nancy Siemers, Kelly Scardina, Michelle Weiland, Mary Ann Brabec; 2nd row: Marianne McKeague, Carlotta Lawton, Linnea Warda, Madalene Cannata; 3rd row: Julie Weber, Margaret Smielewski, Pam Sifuentes, Rose Martinet; 4th row: Pat Lord, EDD President, Cheryl Sutton and Carol Weiland.  (Not pictured were Terry Bode, Mary Ellen Clish. Joann Hillebrand, Ann Krueger, and Marie Palmer.)   Representing 9 of our EDD parish CCWs, they have much information to bring back to their Council and parishes.

EDD's Fall Gathering at Immaculate Conception Parish in Elmhurst was a great success; unfortunately your camerawoman neglected to get pictures of our lovely 'Living Rosary' in the Church, nor Fr. Peter's educational talk on the changes in the words of the Mass beginning on the first Sunday of Advent.  We did get some nice pics of the social after, as you can see.  l-r Top: Pat Lord, President; Nancy Siemer's back, Church Chair; Teri Lindemann from JD CCW; and Joanne Hillebrand, past
NCCW and JD CCW President
.   Middle: Madalene Canna, Corresponding Secretary; Fr. Peter, our Moderator.and backs of Ann Krueger, Family Concerns and Pam Sifuentes,
Vice President.  Bottom: a sampling of the many 'goodies' provided by the women of IC's CCW and the EDD board.

Early in August, we also presented our new bishop with the Volunteer Hours our board members contributed in 2010-2011 in the various Commission areas.  The impressive total of 2,493 hours represented 345 hours in Church Concerns, 155 hours in Legislative Concerns, 186 hours in Family Concerns, 246 hours in Community Concerns, 374 hours in International concerns, and 1,188 hours in Organization Services.

At  left  is a portion of the 2010 Joliet Diocesan Quilt containing squares of virtually all of the Parish CCWs in the diocese.  Outlined are the Parish CCWs from East DuPage Deanery.

East DuPage Deanery
     • inspires its women and parishes (affiliates) through prayer and action,
     • supports social action and services with Gospel values,
     • provides a place for Catholic women to speak and act on matters of mutual interest,
     • and represents its affiliates with other Deaneries and the Joliet Diocesan and National Councils of Catholic Women.
Above left is a mini-map of DuPage County, showing the general scope of the Deanery, roughly the area of the county east of Route 53.  At right is a portion of the new Deanery quilt which outlines the quilt squares of the parish CCWs in our Deanery.

We hope that this site will provide valuable resources and references for Catholic women and Parish Councils of Catholic Women in the East DuPage Deanery.  Detailed information below and at left.

The women who form the 2010-12 Board of the East DuPage Deanery are listed in the link in the menu at the upper left: "Board".  If you wish to contact us, clicking on the name of the President  or Vice President will open an e-mail message to her, or you can contact the webmaster by using the 'Contact Us' link a little farther down in the menu.  We welcome all comments, questions and other feedback about the website or any of its contents, especially suggestions for items you would like to  see on this website.  We have also uploaded the various reports of our recent activities; we particularly congratulate the board of the EDD for their substantial record of volunteer hours; this record of their commitment to service has been sent as a kind of 'spiritual bouquet' to the Bishop of our diocese, Bishop Daniel Conlon Sartain, as well to the JDCCW for forwarding to the National Council of Catholic Women.

In the "About" page, upper left, you will find a very short history of the founding of the Council of Catholic Women, and East DuPage Deanery's place in it; the "Links' page contains links to the Diocesan and National CCWs, among others.

Recent issues of the Deanery Newsletter, the Significa can be found, by date, in the box at the left (you will need Adobe Reader to open and read these files). There are also other historical documents available on the Deanery Archives page, accessible by clicking on the Archives link at the left.

All Parish CCWs in the Deaneary are listed (including those reently re-organized CCW  or in varius stages of re-establishment) in the Parish CCWs page available at the left.  If they have websites or pages on their parish website, then clicking on that link should bring you there.  NOTE to Parish Councils of Catholic Women: if your upcoming events are listed on these pages, this might be a useful advertising tool for your Council's events.

In the menu at the left, you can also go to pages with information for our Commissions, 'nitty-gritty' things (items that CCW members and councils need to know at various at various times), 'Who, What & Why? (documents that answer particular questions), and other resources.  Our Archives has a record of our past events back to 1981, a listing of our Deanery Past Presidents and the women from our Deanery who have served as Diocesan (and even National) Presidents; for history buffs, more information is planned for this page.

One resource that many will find useful is the "Parish President's Survival Guide".  This is a  tri-fold brochure that contains much information in a  handy, concise format, not only for Parish Presidents, but for members as well.  You can download it at: "Parish (CCW)...Survival Guide"

To the women of the present - for what they are doing; and

Video Daily Reflections

The U.S. bishops’ Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) has expanded its streaming video site, CCC-TV, to include daily reflections, interviews and stories of faith that offer a range of engaging multimedia content. The new features give visitors the opportunity to experience the rich tapestry of Catholic faith from diverse perspectives and learn about the activities of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Church across the country. Daily reflections offer brief commentaries on the Mass readings of the day. The Archdioceses of Galveston-Houston, New Orleans, Miami, San Antonio, Washington, D.C and the Dioceses of Fort Wayne-South Bend and Raleigh are currently participating. Several other dioceses are scheduled to tape reflections for the coming year.
