Living Eucharist at 6363 9th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710 US - We Were Nourished!

We Were Nourished!

Saturday, February 21 was a day for praying, learning and growing in faith and ministry skills for all who were assembled at the Tampa Convention Center for the second conference day of the Living Eucharist Initiative for the Diocese of St. Petersburg.  Participants from parishes, Catholic schools, the Diocesan Pastoral Center and Catholic Charities entered into the day with Morning Prayer that was followed by a Keynote presentation, Blessed be God Forever by Rev. Edward Foley, OFM Capuchin.

The Keynote address drew all in attendance more deeply into the mysteries of the Mass, in particular the Eucharistic Prayer through word, song and visual images.  Breakout workshops provided rich fare with a variety of sessions focusing on sacramental preparation, liturgical practice, historical and theological understandings about the Eucharist and music in the liturgy.

The closing Keynote focus on the topic “Become What You Eat” was a critical transition from understanding and belief about the Eucharist and the imperative that has been at the heart of the initiative from its inception; the call for all who receive to “become Eucharist for others” and thus enflesh the Body of Christ as Jesus would have us do, in memory of him.  Exhibits, providing the latest resources for growing in the faith and ministering to all who wish to come to know Jesus especially in the breaking of the bread, rounded out a day that encouraged and inspired all to grow in their practice and appreciation of the great gift of the Eucharist.
