Membership books and Membership cards are being distributed after all the masses this weekend, with the Respect Life goods for the first two weekends in October and also at the Rosary Luncheon. Otherwise, please plan on picking up your book at our next meeting to save us the cost of mailing. Don't forget to sign the register that you have your booklet! Also, at the October meeting, I shall have the laminating machine for those who wish to have their membership card be their name badge for a cost of $1.00. All monies collected are deposited to the Guild for dispersement to Sacred Heart and other charities. Feel free to use some other plastic holder from a prior convention if you'd rather to save $1.00 but the laminated badges look terrific, as you shall see!

Why don't you join us at Sacred Heart? Every morning the Rosary is said at 8 am in Sacred Heart Church, Punta Gorda before the 8:30 am daily Mass. While we are patiently rebuilding our new church, we especially celebrate First Fridays where we pray to Our Lady of Good Counsel to assist us and guide us and we receive our corporate communion. We also strive to keep you educated, aware, informed and connected, not only to our community but also to the world where we live.
The Guild of Our Lady, Sacred Heart, Punta Gorda, Florida offers their First Friday Mass for our recently deceased members. Come join the group in the choir section located behind the altar and help recite the prayer to our Lady of Good Counsel. Following Mass we have our time for adoration of the Blessed Eucharist.
We celebrate the Holy Hour before Our Eucharistic King at 5 pm every Wednesday before the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help held at 6 pm celebrated by either one of our priests or Deacon Ed Lundy right here at Sacred Heart. It may be difficult to find us, but since Hurricane Charley we have been located in a room behind where the old church used to stand (211 Cross Street)! Our Guild meetings are held across Route 41 at our Parish Center, corner of W. Charlotte Avenue and Route 41 South.
We are always looking for new members! Our MEMBERSHIP DRIVE is on. So, be with us and let us refresh your soul, strengthen your faith, renew your lives, enrich your friendships, and empower yourself to make a difference in the world surrounding us!

Can women make a difference? Yes, we can! Each Council is a link in the chain of a beautiful rosary to the Blessed Mother! Now, don't think of one rosary, think of many and not just one decade, not just one set of mysteries, etc.
By joining Guild of Our Lady (CCW) at Sacred Heart, we are automatically enrolled in the Central Deanery plus the Diocese of Venice Diocese Council of Catholic Women (VDCCW). For a separate fee of $20 we can be part of NCCW as an individual membership but by attending meetings, we have information shared by others, too!

FIRST CLASS IN RESPITE CARE HELD OCTOBER 27, SECOND CLASS PLANNED FOR DECEMBER 11, 2008.
With the Coordination of Dottie Bonjean, RN, the first RESPITE CARE CERTIFICATION COURSE took place on October 27, 2008 at the home of George and Barbara Chamberlain.
Our next class is being planned for December 11, 2008. The idea is to combine our first and second class for the RN and PT section of the course. LIFE CARE CENTER on Shreve Street is sponsoring this section for our Respite Care Certification Course. Their Director of Nursing, Patricia L. Edukonis, RN shall conduct the portion of the class in Handwashing and Infection Control. The Co-Directors of Physical Therapy, Aimee Portillo and Kelly McCormick shall present the Transfer Training and safety for Patients and their Caregivers. The plan is to begin at the Chamberlain's house at 8:30 a.m. with the RN and PT portion and then, we shall break for Mass being celebrated at 10:30 am over at the Life Care Center. After Mass, we shall come back to a luncheon and then start the Respite Care Course instructed by "Rickie" Arnold, well-known in the Diocese for her excellence in Respite Care Training. Only the second class will need to stay for this portion because the first class would then complete their certification with the RN/PT portion in the morning. Ladies from Guild of Our Lady as well as surrounding area churches, such as St. Andrew's in Cape Coral were delighted by a wonderful retreat on the grounds of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Venice, February 26, 2008.
The theme of Father Jerry's lecture was "THE CROSS," how His Cross affected our lives, what His Cross meant to us and the future of our family lives with HIS CROSS. We divided into twelve mystical groups and shared among us. Later that day, a spokesperson from each group related our discussions. For many of us, it was a first time experience to the Retreat Center that has been in existence for over 14 years now.
We had a great luncheon prepared by Mark, The Chef of Chicken Marsailles and walked around the 15 Stations of the Cross -- The last one being The Ressurection. We ended with Eucharistic Liturgy, celebrated by Father Jerry.
A great time was had by all! There were prizes galore and plenty of time for friendships new and old.
Amongst a myriad of Fall and Christmas home-made items, the household goods moved the fastest! I guess everyone was thinking of decorating their homes, replacing older items they used to show and buying the latest and greatest in Fall and Christmas arrangements, pillows, bath items, kitchen towels, quilts, etc. Well, see for yourself! I hope you enjoy the photos! Barbara
Wasn't it fun! So many prizes from Dolores Garvis and her Committee! Francine Stevens won the grand prize for the big raffle money! Someone's table was very lucky and everyone won something! The food was great and the service wonderful and a few people remarked about the great drinks too!
It was a superb way to usher in the Christmas season, Isles style! Hope you enjoy some random photos of the event!
Couldn't make the Convention this year! Look at the fun we had! Take a look at the pictures of those you know and quiz them on it! The pictures speak for themselves! Plan to go in the ensuing years!
