Dear Ladies,

What does 900 ladies attending NCCW look like?  A picture says it all!  Pictured above, Ginny Dias, newest Guild Member, Dolores Garvis, Past-President and Barbara Chamberlain, current President of the Guild of Our Lady, Council of Catholic Women, Sacred Heart Parish in Punta Gorda!

 Membership books and Membership cards are being distributed after all the masses this weekend, with the Respect Life goods for the first two weekends in October and also at the Rosary Luncheon. Otherwise, please plan on picking up your book at our next meeting  to save us the cost of mailing. Don't forget to sign the register that you have your booklet!  Also, at the October meeting, I shall have the laminating machine for those who wish to have their membership card be their name badge for a cost of $1.00.  All monies collected are deposited to the Guild for dispersement to Sacred Heart and other charities.  Feel free to use some other plastic holder from a prior convention if you'd rather to save $1.00 but the laminated badges look terrific, as you shall see!

OCTOBER 5, 2009.  First Annual Luncheon and Living Rosary.  We are excited because so far we have 70 people who have signed up and even more to pray a bead!  Noon luncheon ($12) catered by Jack's Restaurant followed by Living Rosary in Mary's Chapel.  Please call Marie Ludvig, Chair or sign up in the Narthex of Sacred Heart to pray a bead or attend the luncheon.  Marie's phone number is (941) 637-5904.  Also see write up and sign up form here.  Reservations and checks for the luncheon are now due!

POT LUCK SUPPER WITH FATHER BRYAN scheduled for Wednesday October 21, @ 6:30 after devotionals!  No obligation!  Come on over for a show and father will also entertain questions on his upcoming Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, February 1-10, 2010 as mentioned above.  For more information, please contact Barbara Chamberlain @ 941-575-6761 or email:  barbarachamberlain@embarqmail.com.  Important:  $300 deposit due at this time for those interested in going on the Pilgrimage.

CENTRAL DEANERY DAY is scheduled for October 24.  8:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m..  Carpool is $5 and the Bus is $35.  Breakfast and luncheon served for $15.  One group check is due.  So, please make your checks payable to GUILD OF OUR LADY and then we shall send in the group check to Ascension CCW.  Please send in via Sunday Collection baskets for the $15 and then if you want to car pool, $5, bus, $35.  Sacred Heart is receiving a Memorial Garden Award, so it should be fun!  There is also a 50/50 drawing, silent auction and a pregnancy crisis situation.  Please bring in a new baby gift, diapers, wipes and formula in short supply within the diocese.  To print out the form, please right click over the picture and then select print.

Please remember to get your membership form together with a check for $10 payable to GUILD OF OUR LADY, CCW deposited in the offeratory basket during the weekend masses.  Please register soon because we are compiling the Membership Directory and we need to register everyone's names.  AUGUST 15, 2009 is the DEADLINE FOR THE MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY.  We are busy scheduling our dates for next year, too!

We are looking for someone to fill in for Vice President and Respite Care Coordinator.  If you or someone you know are interested, please let Barbara Chamberlain know at (941) 575-6761.  Dottie Bonjean shall be missed in so many ways but her spirit lives on in each one of us whose heart she touched along life's way!  Her life was one of service to community and she was all about love!

Why don't you join us at Sacred Heart?  Every morning the Rosary is said at 8 am in Sacred Heart Church, Punta Gorda before the 8:30 am daily Mass.  While we are patiently rebuilding our new church, we especially celebrate First Fridays where we pray to Our Lady of Good Counsel to assist us and guide us and we receive our corporate communion.  We also strive to keep you educated, aware, informed and connected, not only to our community but also to the world where we live.

The Guild of Our Lady, Sacred Heart, Punta Gorda, Florida offers their First Friday Mass for our recently deceased members.  Come join the group in the choir section located behind the altar and help recite the prayer to our Lady of Good Counsel.  Following Mass we have our time for adoration of the Blessed Eucharist.

We celebrate the Holy Hour before Our Eucharistic King at 5 pm every Wednesday before the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help held at 6 pm celebrated by either one of our priests or Deacon Ed Lundy right here at Sacred Heart.  It may be difficult to find us, but since Hurricane Charley we have been located in a room behind where the old church used to stand (211 Cross Street)!  Our Guild meetings are held across Route 41 at our Parish Center, corner of W. Charlotte Avenue and Route 41 South.     

We are always looking for new members!  Our MEMBERSHIP DRIVE is on.  So, be with us and let us refresh your soul, strengthen your faith, renew your lives, enrich your friendships, and empower yourself to make a difference in the world surrounding us!

Can women make a difference?  Yes, we can!  Each Council is a link in the chain of a beautiful rosary to the Blessed Mother!  Now, don't think of one rosary, think of many and not just one decade, not just one set of mysteries, etc.

By joining Guild of Our Lady (CCW) at Sacred Heart, we are automatically enrolled in the Central Deanery plus the Diocese of Venice Diocese Council of Catholic Women (VDCCW). For a separate fee of $20 we can be part of NCCW as an individual membership but by attending meetings, we have information shared by others, too!

SACRED HEART'S 40 DAYS FOR LIFE DAY is scheduled for THURSDAY October 29, 2009.  Tim and Marian FitzPatrick are coordinating carpools.  Flyers are at church and in the bulletin, soon.
Carpools are available.    There is a Latin Mass at St. Martha's if you would like to attend before the 1 PM session over at Planned Parenthood in Sarasota and also the Amish Restaurants are open that day for any of your meal planning on your trip that day!
