Since 1994, the Gabriel Personal Achievement Award is sponsored by Family Theater Productions and given by the Catholic Academy for Communications Arts Professionals in honor of the late Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, founder of Family Theater Productions of Hollywood, California (a long-time source of award-winning radio and TV programs that uplift and nourish the human spirit and strengthen the family). The Gabriel Award for Personal Achievement is presented to individuals whose work and careers have provided outstanding leadership in promoting the ideals of the Gabriel Awards. Eligible candidates are nominated by the members of the Catholic Academy, and the Board of Directors selects the annual recipient. Persons nominated have included producers, directors, performers, writers, critics and broadcast executives at either the national or local level. Both nominees and winners have brought to the industry a high standard of artistic excellence and commitment to public service.
