St. Isidore Parish at 427 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108-1390 US - Social Justice & Peace

Social Justice & Peace

It’s not complicated...love God and love your neighbor as yourself.  Easy to say but not always easy to do. Our outreach gifts of time, talents and treasure to those in need is an immediate answer to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and reach out to serve others from our abundance of experience, goods, and treasure. It’s a critical need that will always be required. But the social structures that keep so many of our neighbors in a cycle of poverty, can only be addressed if we become aware, educate ourselves, change how we think and do things, and actively advocate for solutions that will create long term change for everyone; that’s justice.

What We Do

Social Justice and Peace at St. Isidore is committed to developing educational programs on Catholic Social Teaching, providing opportunities for parishioners to take action on social justice topics and serve the community in charitable/justice promoting  projects.

We partner with the Joliet Diocese Social Justice Coalition, other Catholic parishes and community organizations collaborating and advocating for justice and peace.

The Catholic Social Teaching
The Church’s social teaching is the foundation for building a just society and living lives based on the demands of the Bible while facing the challenges of our society. It is based on seven main themes:

• Life and Dignity of the Human Person
• Call to Family, Community, and Participation
• Rights and Responsibilities
• Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
• The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
• Solidarity
• Care for God’s Creation
