Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

We have arrived at the final days of the school year.  The time has flown by much too quickly!  We are both excited and sad to see our 8th graders graduate tomorrow night.  We will miss them!

Important Information:

Six Flags Tickets – Students who earned a Six Flags Ticket are bringing them home today.  Please check your child’s brown envelope.

FFF – Fun Food Friday forms are due TOMORROW. NO late orders can be accepted.

End of Year Celebration – Students in Grs. 1-7 will celebrate the end of the school year with a movie at the Bloomingdale Picture Show.  Students in Gr. 1-4 will see the PG movie, “The Croods”.  Students in Grs. 5-7 will see the PG movie “Ox the Great and Powerful”.  H.S.A. is paying for the admission, the bus transportation, and concession.  ALL students must turn in a permission slip even if they are not attending.

Chaperones are still needed for Gr. 1,2,4,5 and 7.  Please consider helping out with this fun morning.  Contact Michele Ryan at ryanmi@comcast.net  to volunteer.

This event CANNOT happen if we don’t have enough chaperones.

Other H.S.A. News – H.S.A. is very thankful for the services of Elaine Polanco who has served as the treasurer for the past 3 years.  Elaine is stepping down so H.S.A. is seeking someone to take her place.  This person does not need to attend all meetings!  This is a great opportunity to get involved in the H.S.A.

Uniform Resale – Next Tuesday, May 28th is the Uniform Sale and Resale.  If you have uniforms to sell, please drop them off at the school office tomorrow (Friday) or bring them in early on Tuesday.  Chris Konchel has chaired this event for many years and is stepping down.  Please consider shadowing her on Tuesday and chairing the event next year.  Spiritwear and gym uniforms will also be sold on Tuesday morning.

Lunch Parents – You will see another call for lunch parents in the e-envelope.  There are some significant “holes” to fill in the schedule for next year.  Please consider volunteering your time for the 2013-2014 school year. Contact Pam Martin for more information.

Student Apparel For Next Week – Students may wear Spiritwear on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week.  Jeans, capris and appropriate shorts (MUST be no more than 1” above the knee –including athletic shorts) may be worn with Spiritwear shirts.  NO fleece jogging pants or pajama pants.  Sandals may be worn on Tuesday and Thursday, but gym shoes MUST be worn on Wednesday for Field Day.  Friday is dress up day for mass.  NO shorts on Friday.

Schedule for Next Week – Students in Gr. 1-7 will be in school next week with the following dismissal times:

Tuesday, May 28 – Regular dismissal at 2:55 – Regular lunch

Wednesday, May 29 – Field Day, Fun Food Wednesday –Remember to send a lunch if you did not order a lunch for your child – Regular dismissal at 2:55

Thursday, May 30 – End of Year Celebration Day – Dismissal at 11:00 NO after school care

Friday, May 31 – Last Day of School!!  Mass at 8:15 – Dismissal after mass at approximately  9:30-9:45 – NO after school care

Looking ahead…

See the e-envelope for some information about ways to support SIS through Target and Box Tops.  Continue to save those Box Tops during the summer!!

We are saying good bye to one of our staff members this year.  Miss Lee is leaving St. Isidore to pursue working with special needs students in a local school district.  We will miss her and wish her well!  Mrs. Ascenzo will be teaching full time next year.  She will take over some of Ms. Lee’s classes. Mr. Sheehan and Mrs. Yerly will also absorb some of Ms. Lee’s classes. Mrs. Kuchler will also be here full time next year.

All students in Gr. K-7 are receiving a summer packet of work in both Reading and Math.  It is proven that students struggle to retain what they have learned if they take a long “break” from reading and practicing math.  It is vital to your child’s success in the fall to keep his/her skills sharp. The packet we send is meant to be a springboard for other things you will do over the summer to help them.  You might consider asking your child to create a travel journal of your summer vacation.  Think of the great memory that will be!  You might consider taking advantage of library programs in your area that encourage reading.  You might help your child search the many websites that will be recommended by the teachers.  Students may achieve a dress down pass if work is completed and turned in on the first day of school.  In some grades, the summer work will be graded and entered as the first grade of the new school year.  Watch for this within the week.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

We are half way through Lent!  Isn’t that hard to believe?  All of the students in Gr. 2-8 had the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation today.

Congratulations – Ten SIS Students participated in the Solo Contest sponsored by Music on the Move this past weekend.  ALL of them received a 1st Place Medal!  Congratulations to:  Henry Breyne, Maggie Breyne, Meghan Frost, Alicia Heydt, Trevor Heydt, Natalie Kuchler, Megan Lombardo, Haley Marczyk, Sarah Sawko and Liz Witek.

Young Rembrandts – The next session of Young Rembrandts will begin on April 11th.  See the e-envelope for more information.

Fun Food Friday – The FFF form is due TOMORROW.

Clothing and Toy Resale – The Clothing Sale is just a week away.  Volunteers are still needed!  Please consider helping out.  Look for information in the e-envelope or the school office.

Me & My Guy – Your daughter can still register to attend the Me and My Guy Dance with dad scheduled for April 13th.  See the e-envelope for this special event.

Hot Lunch April – The Hot Lunch order for April is in the e-envelope. This is due before Spring Break.  I’m happy to announce that our hot lunch provider is offering gluten free pasta and pizza on those days for students that have a gluten allergy.  Contact Mrs. Snyder directly for those options.

Shamrock Scoops – The 8th graders are selling Shamrock Scoops on Wednesday, March 13th to help support their 8th Gr. Dinner Dance.  See the form you will receive in the brown envelope today.

ECC Alerts – Hopefully we have seen the last of the wintry weather.  But, remember that you can always check the status of St. Isidore School by looking on the Emergency Closing Site www.emergencyclosings.com.  You can register on this site to receive updates also.  IF we were to have a snow day or other emergency day, I would report it to the ECC and send an email to parents.

Track & Field Team Registration- All 5th through 8th graders who are interested in participating on the Track & Field team, please download the registration information from the E-envelope. If you have not already paid the fee, it is $20.00 made payable to St. Isidore School and a uniform deposit of $25.00 made payable to St. Irene School. The uniform deposit will be returned at the end of the season when your uniform is returned. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Butler.

Tuition – The School Board has worked hard to have tuition figures available for Open House tomorrow.  I am sure many of you are also wondering about next year’s tuition rates.  Due to the success of the Auction/Gala, the 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and the Clothing Sales, tuition will be going up only 3% for next year.  There will be NO increase in the Preschool Tuition.  This is the smallest increase in many, many years. Thank you to all who helped to make the fundraisers that support our School Improvement Fund (the 3 mentioned above) so successful!

Exciting News – St. Isidore School has an official FACEBOOK Page.  See the e-envelope for info or go to WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/CYCLONES.  Thank you to Mr. Mike Yerly, Development Director, for beginning that page.  Be sure to “like” us on Facebook!

Open House – Tomorrow is Open House.  Please remind your friends and neighbors who are interested in St. Isidore School to visit us tomorrow between 9:00 and 11:00AM.  There will be no school for Preschool and Kindergarten students.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

Thank you to each and every one who helped to make the Gala such a success last weekend!  Here is the latest info:

We are excited to announce that the 7th grade had the most attendance of parents at the Gala and they will get a Pajama Day and breakfast cooked by Mrs. Collins and the Gala committee. Thanks to the 7th grade parents for your support! The class was very excited when we announced it to them this AM. We will set a date in the near future.

Our numbers are still coming in but we are proud to announce that so far there is over $74,000 in profit!! The technology fund netted over $19,000 by itself. We are still accepting donations for this fund if you would like to help us achieve our goal of $21,000! Please send donations to the school office earmarked technology fund for Gala. This money goes directly to our upgrades and the new tablets we hope to purchase.

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

The Auction/Gala is only two days away!  Remember that tomorrow is the last time you can buy a raffle ticket AND receive tuition credit.  If you sell 4 tickets, your name will be entered into the Cassidy Tire Tuition Raffle.  You can buy tickets the night of the Gala, but you will not receive tuition credit for tickets purchased that evening. It promises to be an evening of Pure Imagination.  H.S.A. will be supporting the Gala by donating the profits from Willy Wonka Candy purchased tomorrow.

Registration Reminder – Registration Information was sent out 2 weeks ago.  Please complete your forms and return them to school by next Friday, March 1st.  It is very helpful for both budgeting and Open House to have an accurate number of returning students.

Feed the Hungry – Your child may have told you about our all school service project for Lent.  We are collecting to support the Neighborhood Food Pantry (formerly Feeding N.W. DuPage).  At Mass the students were able to see a shopping cart filled with food that could be purchased for only $5.  Our goal is to buy as many shopping carts as we can to help feed the hungry right here in DuPage County. Students are encouraged to donate from their own money as part of their Lenten Sacrifice. If you would like more information about the Food Pantry, visit this site: http://www.neighborhoodfp.org/index.php.

Math Scholars – Congratulations to our 6th and 7th graders who took the IL Math Contest this past Tuesday.  The top scorers (in alphabetical order) were;  6th Grade:  Genevieve Heydt, Mario Jayes, Ryan Martin, Connor O’Keefe, Ally Schellinger, Frank Stompanato & Mario Virina,  7th Grade: Zachary Barry, Jesephine Belliveau, Henry Breyne, John Sheehan, Alex Szewczyk.  Congratulations to all of these Math Students!

Fun Food Friday – Tomorrow is FFF.  Students may wear jeans and Spiritwear - NO sweat pants.  Students may purchase the Willy Wonka Candy as an extra during lunch. Remember that there will be 2 very special baskets that 2 students will win if they find the “golden ticket” in their candy.  All candy proceeds will be donated to the auction. If you did not order a lunch for your child, please be sure to send one.

Follow Up – The CSW Teacher Raffle was a huge success this year!  Over $1500 was collected!  Half of that money will go to Feed My Starving Children and the other half will go to Catholic Charities in the Joliet Diocese.  Thank you to both the teachers who donated the many great prizes and the families that bought so many tickets!

Run For a Cause – St. Viator High School is sponsoring a 5K Run on Saturday, March 9th.  All proceeds will be donated to Feed My Starving Children.  For more information visit:  www.saintviator.com

Feed My Starving Children – Gr. 4-8 - Please remember to fill those M&M containers.  You can turn them in on Monday or Tuesday of next week.  That amount will be added to the CSW Raffle money.

The weather service is predicting snow for tomorrow.  Please remember to check the Emergency Closing Center www.emergencyclosings.com  for official school closing information.  I don’t anticipate any reason to close, but that site will be where you will see the most accurate information.  I would also send an email to families if the school was closed for the day.

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

Fun Food Friday – The FFF Form is in the e-envelope this week.  Please return it promptly by next Thursday.

Lent – Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13th.  We will celebrate mass at 8:15 that morning as usual.  Please be advised that there will be extra traffic that day during drop off and pick up.  The cones and chain that separate the parish parking lot from Popeye’s lot will be down that day.  Please use extreme caution when dropping off or picking up your child/ren.

Registration Info – You are receiving your Registration Packet for the 2013-2014 school year today in your oldest child’s brown envelope.  Please read and return with the registration fee as soon as possible.  This early registration helps the School Board and I set an accurate tuition rate.  Thank you for your help with this!

Gala Update – It is only 2 weeks away!  Hopefully everyone has purchased their tickets to the Gala.  Deadline is Feb. 15th.  Remember that the class with the highest percentage of families attending the event will win a Pajama Day and a Pancake Breakfast.  Some lucky family is going to win the Cassidy Tire Tuition Raffle.  So far, over 20 families have already qualified.  Remember that in order to qualify, you must have your tickets in by 3PM on Feb. 22nd.  We are pleased to announce that we have another sponsor for the Gala ~ the Peiranunzi/Biancalana Family!  Thank you so much!  We are still accepting sponsorships.  Details are in the e-envelope.  We also need help for set up in the morning on Feb. 23rd and for check out that evening.  See the e-envelope for more info.

Feed My Starving Children – One of the many service projects in which our students will participate during Lent is Feed My Starving Children.  The 4th, 5th  , 6th , 7th and 8th Grades will travel to the FMSC site in late February.  Here they will pack many, many meals to be sent to developing countries and possibly to areas right here in the United States.  H.S.A. generously supports this field trip by paying for the buses.  The students in those grades will be given containers of Mini-M&Ms early next week.  They should bring these home, eat the M&Ms and fill them with quarters to return to FMSC.  The donation will help to pay for the meals that they pack.   Chaperones will be needed for these trips.  Your child’s homeroom teacher may contact you if more chaperones are needed.

Mrs. Cyndi Collins

What else is new?

I have included a prayer for Catholic Schools Week.  It reminds us all that St. Isidore School and all Catholic Schools are built on tradition and faith.

The Gala committee needs a few ingredients to fill out our recipes for the silent and live auctions. Can you help us out by reviewing our list in the e-envelope? We still have room in our program book for ads and well wishers. Please check out our flyer in the e-envelope as well. We appreciate everyone’s efforts as we move forward to this exciting event. Our tuition increase for 2013-2014 will be directly affected by the success of this event. Please help in whatever way possible to ensure that our increase is minimal.

I hope to see many of you this weekend and at the activities next week.

Dec. 20, 2012

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

We have reached the final days of Advent.  Our waiting for Christ’s birth is almost over.  With the events of the past week in Newtown, CT, we are especially thankful for the blessings of our children.  We continue to keep the families impacted by this tragedy in our hearts and in our prayers.

Safety – Safety is always on the minds of principals and most especially this past week.  I want to remind you of a few important things.  St. Isidore School and Parish has a Crisis Management Plan that was just recently revised.  The teachers are in-serviced every year as a reminder and we do the typical safety drills throughout the school year.  The Crisis Plan calls for lock downs in certain situations.  There is a “soft” lockdown which would occur if there is a threat in the area, but not in the school or parish buildings.  The students will be allowed to move throughout the building, but there will be no outside play or activities.  Release of students will be determined by the Crisis Management Team after consultation with the local fire and police authorities.  A “hard’ lockdown is called when it is determined that it is safest for students to remain in their classrooms with the doors locked.  In either case the local authorities will be working with the Crisis Management Team to determine procedures for student release to parents.  Please be assured that there are ongoing conversations about ways to update and refine our safety procedures.  I appreciate the trust that you put in us here at the school and parish to keep your children safe.

And now for happier topics…

Football Mania Update – Congratulations to Joseph Marczak who won $25.  His ticket was sold by the Marczak Family.

Tomorrow – Our Christmas Break begins tomorrow, Friday at 11:00.  All students Gr. K-8 will be dismissed at 11:00.  Remember that students may dress down in jeans and green or red shirts.  We return to school on Monday, Jan. 7th.

From the Auction Committee - Parents be sure to purchase  your raffle tickets for our next  Your St. Isidore Grand Raffle on 12/21/12. The early bird prize is $250. Tickets are online at www.stisidoreparish.org ; or are available in the school office until 8AM tomorrow.  Remember that you get a $25 tuition credit for every ticket sold and if you sell 4 tickets  you get an entry into the Cassidy Tire Free Tuition for a Year Raffle! Sell them to your coworkers, get the cousins to chip in $10 each and buy one, be like our own St. Isidore teachers and get a group together to buy one, and the good news is you get multiple chances to win if you buy now! The Your St. Isidore Gala is only 10 weeks away!! Be on the look out during break for your invitations.   We want to wish all the families a Merry Christmas and we are looking forward to 2013 when we celebrate our EVENING OF PURE IMAGINATION!!

H.S.A. News – Thank you to the many parents that have donated to the Teachers’ Lounge Project.  This has grown to be not just a make over, but a complete remodel!  A generous donation came in to replace cabinets and countertops.  With this added addition, we’ve decided to move the make-over to the summer.  The time was too tight during the Christmas Break.  This is really something fun to look forward to when we begin the new school year!  The next Family Dining Night is Monday, Jan. 14th.  See the flyer in the e-envelope.

Reminders:

Hot Lunch – Hot Lunch orders are due TOMORROW.  Payment may be delatyed until we return in January, but the orders are due tomorrow.

Red and Green – Students may wear jeans (no sweat pants) and red or green shirts tomorrow to celebrate Christmas.

Snow Day – I am NOT anticipating a need to close school tomorrow.  It will be windy and cold, but there isn’t enough snow predicted to close the school.  It is a reminder, though, that the winter weather is here.  Remember that you can check the local radio and T.V. stations or the emergency closing center www.emergencyclosings.com.  I will also send an email if there is a snow day.  We do NOT have a “calling tree” so please do not expect a phone call to give you the information.

My wish for all of you is that you will have a very Merry Christmas and 2013 will be filled with many blessings for you and your family.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Dec. 14, 2012

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

By now many of you have heard the news about the horrific school shooting in CT.  To my knowledge, none of our students here are aware of the event.  I believe that this kind of terrible news is best coming from you as parents.  Please tell your children that these students and families need our prayers at this sad time.  Please also remind them that we have specific procedures in place to assure their safety here at St. Isidore School.  My recommendation would be to watch closely the amount of media your child has access to this weekend.  This will certainly be the highlighted story all weekend on all types of media.

If you feel that your child needs to discuss this further or needs to process it through with a professional, please inform his/her homeroom teacher, Mr. Simpson or myself.  We will do all we can to help them in any way they might need.

Above all else, please keep these families and the community in your prayers.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

December is flying by.  Yesterday the students attended mass with their Faith Families.  In celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, those who could, recited the Our Father in Spanish.  We all met with our Faith Families after mass and created Christmas cards for local nursing homes.  It is amazing how creative the kids are!

With just one more week before Christmas break, everyone is very busy!

Auction Gala Update - The Your St. Isidore Gala Facebook Page has been updated. Please feel free to share this with family and friends and like our page. We will be adding tidbits daily as we get closer to the big day. We are still in need of families to sponsor items for our Live Auction and Gala. This week we would like to thank the Modugno Family for the Box at the Bulls Game and the Villarin Family and Liftmaster  for their donation of four VIP tickets to the Joliet Speedway Nascar Race. Please examine your resources and see if you can help us in any way. It can be as simple as asking your hairdresser for a gift certificate. Please remember that the success of the Gala and the sale of the Grand Raffle tickets directly impacts how much our tuition increase is for next year.

Looking ahead…  Mark your calendars for the Geography Bee on Wednesday, Jan. 16th at 12:30, the Spelling Bee on Thursday, Jan. 24th at 8:05 and the Family Mass and Pot Luck Dinner on Thursday, Jan. 31st.  Watch for more information about Catholic Schools Week coming after the Christmas Break.

K-4 and one for Gr. 5-8.  Students have prepared questions to ask.  This is a special honor for our students!

FFF – Tomorrow is also FFF.  Students typically wear Spirit Wear on these Fridays. Because this is our special Veterans’ Day Celebration there is a change in that attire for tomorrow.  Students may still wear jeans (NO sweats, NO shorts) and are encouraged to wear red, white and blue attire.  Shirts or sweatshirts that signify the branches of the service may also be worn.  Gr. 3, 4, 5, & 6 will go outside after lunch, so please be sure that students dress for the weather.

Book Fair News – Our Fall Book Fair is just a week away ~ next Thursday and Friday.  The coordinators are still looking for many volunteers.  See the e-envelope for a form to volunteer to help out.  Students can bring money on Thursday or Friday to shop.  This is a good time for parents to start Christmas shopping also!

I am so happy that so many of you were able to join us yesterday for mass.   Father Rogelio blessed the rosaries that were donated by H.S.A. and the Knights of Columbus.  Knight Tom Murphy led the students as we prayed a decade of the rosary together.  Each student was given a beautiful wooden rosary and a prayer card.  Some will bring them home and some will keep them in school.  Thank you to H.S.A. and the Knights of Columbus!

Halloween Party Update – It’s just 2 days away!  Volunteers are still needed especially for set up and decorating Saturday morning.   Please consider helping out at this fun family event.  Contact Jen Basel at jenniferbasel@yahoo.com or call the school office if you are available to help either before, during or after the party.

Fun Food Friday – You will find the FFF form in the e-envelope this week. You will also find a separate order form for ordering a dozen mini Gia Via Cupcakes.   Please note that both forms are due NOV 2.  NO late orders can be accepted.

November Hot Lunch – The Hot Lunch Form was in the e-envelope last week.  You can still find it on the website. Note that it is due OCT 29th.

Football Mania –  Congratulations to Maria Franco who won $25 this week.  Her ticket was sold by the Franco Family.

4th Grade Dress Down – The 4th grade class sold the most Football Mania tickets (proportionately) so have earned a special Dress Down Day this Friday, Oct. 26th.

Picture Retakes – Picture Retake Day is next Tuesday, Oct. 30th.  If you are unhappy with the original picture, your child MUST bring it with that day to present to the photographer.  All students who were absent on Sept. 7th will have their picture taken.

Auction Update - The Your St Isidore Gala Committee is pleased to announce the following  two companies have signed on to be our first two sponsors for the 2013 Gala: Cameo Dentistry  is one of our Platinum Sponsors and Cassidy Tire is sponsoring the Free Tuition Raffle for the Grand Raffle. Through these companies generosity, we are able to start to underwrite the cost of the event.  But we still need help!!!  We have many sponsorship opportunities still available. Do you know of a company that would be interested in being one of our sponsors? Please contact Debbie Isoda at mackerdoo@aol.com and we will make contact with them. Please remember that we need everyone’s help to make this evening a huge success!!!

Grandparents’ Day – Please remind Grandparents to RSVP to the school office as soon as possible.  We want to be sure to have accurate numbers to plan for the event.

Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Oct. 18, 2012

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

The cool weather seems to be appearing every few days.  Please help your child remember his/her jacket, gloves and hats as needed.  We will be going outside as often as possible.  Due to the construction on the Columbarium, lunch recess has been moved to the parking lots in front of the Ministry Center and the far north lot.  If you are entering to drop off a preschooler, please be VERY careful entering and exiting.

Important Safety Reminders – It is illegal to talk on a cell phone in a school zone.  That includes the car pool line and entering/exiting the parking lot.  Also, Popeye’s Parking Lot CANNOT be used as a car pool line.  You may park there at the beginning or end of the day, but students must use the safety zone to cross.  These rules help to keep all children and adults safe.

Health Concerns – We have seen a few cases of strep throughout the school.  No specific grade seems to have a large number of cases.  Please be sure to watch for signs of illness.  It is very important that you call the school to report your child’s absence.

Grandparents Day – Your children are bringing home invitations for Grandparents Day today.  Please help them distribute them to their grandparents or “grand-friend”.  Grandparents are asked to RSVP to the school office so that we have an idea of how many people to plan for.  The format will be very similar to last year.  We’ll begin with mass, have a continental breakfast reception and invite grandparents to visit classrooms.

Calling all Veterans – We will be creating a Veterans Day Bulletin Board and would like to feature relatives of our students that have served in the Armed Forces.  Please submit a COPY of a picture, along with a small note card that lists his/her name, rank, war or years served and relationship to the student.  We will need these by Friday, Nov. 2.

Military Collection Reminder – Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Military Collection this month.  H.S.A. has MANY packages of noodles and cereal to ship off.  During the month of November we will be collecting socks and hand warmers.  These are needed and sincerely appreciated by the troops.

Football Mania Celebration – Tomorrow is a dress down day for the whole school to celebrate the success of the Football Mania Fundraiser.  Students may wear jeans and their favorite football team sweatshirt or tee shirt.  Please make sure that shirts and jeans are school appropriate.

Congratulations to the winner this week ~ The Freeman Family won $400 on a ticket sold by the Biemolt Family!

Thank You!  Thank You! – H.S.A. offers a great big THANK YOU to all the families that supported the Market Day Giftwares Fundraiser.  The goal was met and over $3500 was raised!  This money helps to pay for activities like the Roller Skating Party, Wheel of Wisdom, End of Year Celebration and other extras not covered by the school operating budget.  The Kindergarten Class won the pizza/ice cream party with the highest percentage of participation.  Dress down passes were given out today to students in families that participated.  Products will need to be picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 7th in the Ministry Center 10:45-3:00.  Please call Mary Beth Larson at 847-727-2626 or mblarson@msn.com if you need to make alternate arrangements.

Please Join Us – Please join us for mass next Wednesday.  H.S.A. and the Knights of Columbus have generously offered to donate beautiful rosaries to our students.  They will be distributed at mass next Wednesday.  We will pray one decade of the rosary immediately after mass.  We would be thrilled to have parents join us!

Faith Formation Opportunities – Deacon Terry Cummiskey has kindly offered to facilitate a group after the Wednesday School Mass on Nov. 7th and 28th.  He will be instructing and leading the discussion based on the Creed and our Year of Faith.  Please consider joining him.

CCW Craft Fair – See the e-envelope for a flyer with information about the 24th Annual CCW Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 10th.  This is a good place to start your Christmas shopping!

Grand Raffle - Parents! Be on the lookout for your St. Isidore Gala Golden Raffle Tickets that are coming home today. Be like Charlie and see if you win the $15,000 Grand Prize. You only need to take a chance to win! Only 750 tickets will be sold. Every ticket you sell gets you a $25 tuition credit.  Remember if you sell four Golden Tickets, you are automatically entered in the Cassidy Tire Free Tuition Raffle. Imagine yourself winning that!  Online tickets will be available Monday 10/22/12 at www.stisidoreparish.org. Please contact Debbie Isoda at mackerdoo@aol.com with any questions. Thanks for your support of the 2013 Your St. Isidore Gala. This is the largest fundraiser in the parish and we need your support for this to be successful.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Oct. 11, 2012

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

We are half way through October already!  Please help your child remember a jacket as the temperature cools down.  We will be going outside any day that is not raining that is above 10 degrees.  What is new at SIS?

Market Day Products Fundraiser – Don’t forget that you can still order products online until next Tuesday, Oct. 16th.  H.S.A. is VERY close to their goal.  Help them to reach it!

FFF – Tomorrow is Fun Food Friday.  Students are allowed to wear jeans and Spirit Wear shirts.  NO sweat pants.  Please remember to send a lunch if you did not order a FFF lunch for your child.  Also, if you ordered Taffy Apples, they will be delivered tomorrow.  Someone ordered 10 Taffy Apples with sprinkles and did not put a name on the form.  Please let the school office or Zaira Defino know if that is your order.

H.S.A. Prayer Team – Many of you have joined the H.S.A. Prayer Team on Wednesday after mass.  Please consider stopping by the Eucharistic Chapel for a few minutes after the school mass each Wednesday to pray for our students, families and faculty and their intentions.  The prayer intention book is kept in the school office.  Parents may add their intentions anytime there or in the church on Wednesdays.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the Family Halloween Party and Fall Book Fair.

Thanksgiving Food Drive – You will see a flyer in the e-envelope for the parish wide Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Students are asked to bring in specific foods according to grade level.  Books are also being collected.  Please help your child remember these donations.

Marian Devotion – Our students are participating in the diocesan wide Marian Devotion throughout the school year.  Two Eighth Grade students attended a presentation at the Catholic Schools Office and were “trained” to share the information they learned with other eighth grade students.  The eighth graders then went to each class to share what they had learned with the other students.  The project begins this week coinciding with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.  Some classroom activities will occur over the next several weeks with the project ending on Feb. 15th, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Our hope is that this will increase each student’s knowledge of Mary and their devotion to her.  As you know, this is also the Year of Prayer.  Each classroom will be studying the Nicene Creed throughout the school year at grade level appropriateness.

Football Mania Update – Congratulations to Sherry Schellinger.  She won $25 this week!

Rules, Rules, Rules – I am noticing a few boys who are in bad need of a haircut.  Please make sure that your son’s hair is cut according to the standards listed in the Handbook.  Also, ONLY white, black or navy socks are to be worn by both boys and girls.  They should be seen (at the ankle).  No patterns, accessories on the socks are allowed.  Thank you for supporting us on this.

Next Wednesday we will be sitting with Faith Families for the School Mass.  It is exciting to include the Kindergarteners in our Faith Families this year!

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Sept. 27, 2012

 Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

As you know, we are all saddened by the death of our maintenance worker, Phil Witkus.  Some of you have asked if there is a fund established for donations to help Phil’s two young sons.  Any donations may be sent to the Witkus Fund at US Bank.  It is best that you send the donation directly to US Bank.  However, if you send the donation to school, we will make sure it is deposited in the bank.  Please do not write checks to St. Isidore School.  They must be written to “The  Witkus Fund”.  Your prayers are very appreciated for Phil, his family and his friends.

Jogathon – Tomorrow is Jogathon Day ~ A Healthy Lifestyle for Healthy Kids.  Students may wear sweats (NO pajama type pants) that DO NOT have writing on the backside.  Spiritwear is encouraged also.  All students will be jogging and receiving a snack provided by H.S.A.  Please help your child remember the “kid friendly” food item he/she will be donating to help stock the shelves at the Neighborhood Food Pantries.  The list is in on the website in the archived files for Sept. 20th.  Students in Gr. K – 8 will enter through the Ministry Center tomorrow so that food can be dropped off there. Jogging times are as follows:

Preschool – 9:30-10:00

Gr. 6 – 10:12-10:56

Grs. 3 & 4 - 10:56-11:40

Grs. 7 & 8 – 12:20-1:04

Grs. 2 & 5 – 1:04-1:48

Grs. K & 1 – 1:48-2:30

Parents are welcome to come and watch.  Lifetime will not be joining us tomorrow as previously mentioned.

FFF – Fun Food Friday forms are due tomorrow.  See the e-envelope from last week for the form.  Please remember that we do not have these forms in the office.  They are on the school website.

Reminders – Speaking of lunch… We do not have Hot Lunch forms in the office either.  They are on the website.  It is important for both Hot Lunch and FFF that forms are turned in on time.  Please be respectful of the people who coordinate these programs.  They have deadlines to meet.  Forms turned in late will be returned.

If your child forgets his/her lunch there is no need to call the school office asking if there will be an extra hot lunch.  Mrs. Snyder does not know if there is an extra until all lunches have been distributed.  If there is one available, Mrs. Snyder will give it to your child and then bill the family accordingly.  If there is not a Hot Lunch, we always have some type of food for your child in the school office.  If you bring a forgotten lunch, it MUST be a homemade lunch ~ NO fast food is allowed.  Lunches should arrive prior to 11:00 so that they can be brought downstairs.  If it arrives after 11:00 we expect that the students will check in the office for their lunch.

Thank You – The Fall Resale netted over $8,000.00 for our School Improvement Fund.  Thank you very much to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a success.  You are all a testimony to the awesome volunteers and incredible spirit at St. Isidore School!

Market Day Fundraiser Update – Remember that students that return the tabs will be entered into a daily drawing for fun prizes.  Any family that turns in an order will earn Friday dress down passes for all students in the family.  All paper orders are due next Wednesday, October 3rd.  They must be turned in on that day as we are out of the building for our Thursday and Friday Inservices.  Online orders are due by Tuesday, Oct. 16.  Please remember that online orders are charged tax, paper orders are not.  All products come with a 100% guarantee.  Help H.S.A. reach their target of earning $3500 for our school!

News From the Auction Committee – Each week I will be including a message from the Auction Committee.  These volunteers are working hard to ensure another fun, profitable evening for our school..
We are asking every St. Isidore Family to examine their resources and connections to either solicit or make a contribution to the 2013 Your St. Isidore Gala at Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn, IL.  No donation is too small (or too large!) Perennially popular items include:

§  Restaurant gift certificates - How about asking the owner of your favorite place?

§  Theatre or Arts tickets-Are you a season ticket holder?

§  Golf foursomes-Can you request a donation from your Club?

§  Travel getaways-Do you have airline miles or hotel points you can donate? Do you own a time share or vacation home?

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Sept. 20, 2012

 Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

We are at the middle of the first quarter of the school year already.  Each week seems to go by faster than the one before it.  Things are busy as usual at SIS.

ITBS Testing – Iowa (ITBS) Testing begins on Monday for Gr. 2-7.  The 8th graders will be taking the Explore Test in the near future.  Please make sure your child has had a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast each morning.  It is important that the students are here and ready for the morning testing.  Most classes will not test in the afternoon.  Please try to make sure your child is on time for school.  If a child is ill, we will do our best to make up the portion of the test he/she missed.

Clothing Sale – The SIS Clothing & Equipment Sale begins tomorrow in the Ministry Center.  They are still in need of volunteers.  There are volunteer shifts available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Please consider giving a few hours of your time to help out.  Contact Rita Crotinger at sis.resale4volunteers@gmail.com to volunteer.

St. Vincent DePaul Clothing Drive – For the first time, the St. Isidore School Clothing Sale will coincide with a clothing drive sponsored by the parish to benefit St. Vincent DePaul.  You will see the S.V.D. truck parked near the Ministry Center all weekend.  More volunteers are needed to make this drive successful. Please consider volunteering to help.  Contact Ane’ Berg at aberg@stisidoreparish.org if you can give a few hours to this worthy cause.

Football Mania – Congratulations to the Week 2 Winners.  The Jayes Family won $100!  Congratulations to the 4th grade.  They had the highest percentage of participation and have earned an out of uniform day that will be scheduled!  As a school, the sales were high enough to earn an out of uniform day for the entire school!  That day will be Friday, Oct. 19th.  Suggested apparel for that day will be favorite football team wear.  The profit for H.S.A. was over $6300!  Thank you to Matt Schoaf for coordinating this!

FFF – You will find the Fun Food Friday form in the e-envelope this week.  Notice the name change to Fun Food Friday and the addition of Taffy Apples to purchase.  H.S.A. has decided to help spruce up the Teachers’ Lounge.  Taffy Apple sales will benefit this new restricted fund set aside for the Lounge Project.  Students may order these to eat at FFF AND order extra to take home.  Both forms are available in the e-envelope.

Jogathon – Believe it or not, Jogathon is just a week away on Friday, Sept. 28th!  This traditional SIS Event will again be focused on “Healthy Kids for a Healthy Lifestyle”.  We will collect food for the Neighborhood Food Pantries (formerly known as Feeding N.W. DuPage).  Each class has been assigned a specific “kid friendly” food to donate.  H.S.A. has arranged for Lifetime Fitness to join us this year.  They will be here to cheer the joggers on, set up a friendly obstacle course and offer free passes to our students.  We will again need volunteers to record the number of laps each student runs.  See the information for volunteering and for suggested donations in the e-envelope.  Students may wear jogging clothing that day.

H.S.A. Market Day Fundraiser – Today is the kick-off of the Annual Fall Market Day Giftwares Fundraiser.  The students participated in an assembly today as part of the kick-off.  Catalog packets came home today in the brown envelope.  The H.S.A. goal is $3500 with all proceeds going to fund H.S.A. activities and items for the teachers and students. Look for information in the packet for a VIP Pass.  Return it by Monday and your child will be entered in a special drawing. Orders are due Oct. 4th and delivery is Nov. 7th. There is also a new special incentive for the students. If an order is placed in your family name, each child in your family will receive a Friday dress down pass! The class with the highest percentage of participation will be treated to a pizza party.  Remember that all orders placed, including those from friends and family will earn your family a 10% tuition credit.  Contact Mary Beth Larson at mblarson@msn.com with any questions.

Race to Nowhere -  Race to Nowhere will be shown next Tuesday, Sept. 25th at the AMC Theatre in South Barrington beginning at 6:00PM.  The evening will include a viewing of the movie and a discussion let by Trevor Simpson.

Spread the Word – Please help us spread the word that Grandparents’ Day is Wednesday, Nov. 14th.  We will begin with mass and the event will end by 10:30AM.  We will not be mailing a formal invitation this year, so please help your child tell his/her grandparents or grand-friend to mark their calendar.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Your St. Isidore Auction Gala – You are receiving a packet of information about the “Evening of Pure Imagination”.  Please read it carefully and consider helping out in any way you can.  This is our biggest fundraiser.  Proceeds are deposited into the School Improvement Fund.  This fund is used to supply new technology, to keep our current technology up to date AND to offset tuition increases.  Class pictures to be used at the auction will be taken next Tuesday, Sept. 18th.

Extended Day Update – Our new Extended Day Program is moving along very well.  The students are having fun!  Religious Education began again this week.  There will be an R.E. Hall Monitor near the door used for pick up from Extended Day.  They will not be answering the door.  Please remember to ring the bell and wait for the Extended Day Teacher to let you in the building.  If you would like your child to attend Extended Day, please complete a registration form available in the school office.

Box Tops, Soup Labels and More – Remember to send in your Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels. Until November, Sunny Delight Labels will also be collected.  All of these things are collected and sorted by Mrs. Fornari.  We receive points with which we can purchase many different things for the school and playground.  Thank you to those who use the Target Red Card Program.  We received a check for over $1000 recently!

Enjoy the fall like weather we have been promised.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Aug. 30, 2012

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

This has been an exciting week here at St. Isidore.  We welcomed the preschool and kindergarten students.  It really feels like the school year has started now ~ the gang is all here!  What is new around SIS?

Dismissal Safety – Please remember that students are dismissed at 2:55.  In order to assure all students’ safety, please remind your child/ren that he/she MUST stay on the concrete sidewalk with the teachers until their ride arrives.  We want to be sure that all children are accounted for. If a student is not picked up by 3:05 he/she will be brought to the Extended Day program in the Chapel Lower Level (NOT the school office).  If your child is brought to Extended Day, you must pick him/her up there and will be responsible for any fee.  When parking in the church parking lot, ALL cars must face the church.  This assures that NO ONE is backing up in the parking lot.  If you park in the Popeye’s lot, please be very careful exiting.  Popeye’s lot may never be used as a car pool line area (morning drop off or afternoon dismissal).

Forms – Thank you to those of you that have returned the many forms that we have given you.  All forms are due ASAP.  The Emergency Cards are VERY important.  We need to have all of your phone numbers (home, work, cell).  This is imperative so that we have a way to contact you if your child is ill or in need of something.  We also must have at least one “emergency” contact person.  It must be a neighbor, friend, family member that lives in the area.  If the Emergency Card comes to school missing some of this information, it will be returned to you to be completed.  Remember that the Family Directory will be available online this year as well as hard copy.  This WILL be password protected.  No one will be able to see the information without a password that will be given to parents.

Technology Usage Agreement – You will see a form in the brown envelope today that should be signed by you and your child/ren.  There is a separate form for each child.  It contains a very condensed version of the Diocesan Tech Usage Agreement.  Please read entire agreement found in the e-envelope.  In an effort to be greener, it will be in the e-envelope this week for parents to view.   All students must have a signed agreement form on file to be able to use the computers, laptops and new tablets.

Football Mania – Football Mania Tickets are due to the school office by 8:00AM on Friday, Sept. 7th  (date has been extended).  Remember that for every ticket you sell you will receive a $2.00 tuition credit.

Curriculum Night – Curriculum Night is Thursday, Sept. 6th. The evening will begin at 6:30 with the opportunity to sign up for Nov. Parent/Teacher Conferences and the chance to meet and greet the H.S.A. Board, the Athletic Board, the School Board and the Auction Committee.  You will also be able to taste some yummy Market Day samples.  The meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 with prayer.  After the large group meeting you will be able to visit your child’s classroom and hear the particulars the homeroom teachers have to share.  The evening will end by 8:30.  This is a PARENT ONLY evening.

Thank You – The 3 on 3 Tournament was a grand success thanks to Pat Frost, Ron Zygmunt and the many, many other volunteers that planned and worked the event.  See the e-envelope for a thank you note that includes some great pictures.

Thank you also to the Michaline Toplak and the H.S.A. Board for hosting the Mentor Social last Tuesday.  New families were able to get all of their questions answered.

Clothing and Equipment Resale – The Fall Clothing Sale is coming up soon.  See the e-envelope for information.  Help is always needed!

School Picture Day – You received the envelope for Picture Day (Friday, Sept. 7) last week.  This must be returned on Picture Day if you want to order pictures.  All students will be photographed for the yearbook and composite pictures even if an envelope has not been sent to school.

A Few Other Reminders – Occasionally a student will forget something, call a parent from the office and a parent will bring it to school.  If your child is in Gr. 5-8, it will be his/her responsibility to check if that item has arrived during the change of classes.  We will not call a Jr. High Student out of class to pick up an item.  If a lunch is forgotten, bring it to the school office.  Mrs. Snyder always checks and brings any lunches left in the office down to the lunchroom.

Please follow handbook rules regarding shoes, haircuts, etc.  Remember that the handbook cannot state everything that can and can’t be worn.  The expectation is that good judgment and respect for the spirit of the rules will be used.

Don’t forget to stay a few minutes after the school mass on Wednesdays.  The School Family Prayer Team will meet in the Eucharistic Chapel to pray for families and faculty intentions.  All are welcome.  What a beautiful way to celebrate our Catholic School Community!

Enjoy the last of these warm days.
God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year!  It is so nice to have the students back in the building.  We began the year by ringing the original St. Isidore School Bell, the Boo Hoo-Yahoo Breakfast and celebrating mass together.  We are off and running!

Thank You – Many thanks to the Maintenance Staff for everything they did to make our school ready to begin the new school year.  They have cleaned, painted, waxed floors, patched walls, hung LCD Projectors, hung new boards and many, many other things too numerous to mention.  We appreciate their hard work!

Thank you to Debbie Isoda, Felicia Jayes and Zaira Defino for organizing the Boo Hoo-Yahoo Breakfast this morning.  I know that many parents were able to reconnect and enjoy the first morning back to school.

3 On 3 – Our annual 3 On 3 Tournament is this Saturday.  Even if you child has not registered to play, please come out to cheer on the teams.  This is a fun event and one of our major fundraisers.   Ron Zygmunt, Pat Frost and their team have worked very hard to assure the success of the tournament.

Lunch Parent Inservices – All lunch parents must attend a Lunch Parent Inservice.  Two were held today (8:15 and 2:45).  One more will be held tomorrow, Friday at 8:15.

Mentor Social – Families new to St. Isidore are invited to attend the Mentor Social on Tuesday, Aug. 28th at 7:00PM in the Chapel Lower Level.  This is an excellent opportunity for families to become more familiar with St. Isidore School policies and procedures.

Fast Food Friday – The first Fast Food Friday of the school year is Sept. 14th.  The order form for this lunch is in the E-envelope.  It is due back to school by Friday, Sept. 7. This will also be the first Spirit Wear out of uniform day this year.

Handbook – You are receiving the Student Parent Handbook today in your brown envelope.  Please read it carefully and return the top sheet with your signature and your child’s signature.  There are a few changes, so please be sure to read it with your child.  Cell phone permission forms are available on the website and in the school office.  EVERY student who has a cell phone in school MUST have one of these permission forms on file in the office.  No phone may be used during the school day.  If a student does use his/her phone it will be taken away and will remain in the school office until a parent picks it up.

Important Dates –

Aug. 28 – Mentor Social

Sept. 4 – Hot Lunch and milk begin

Sept. 6 – Curriculum Night (note correction from Aug. letter)

Sept. 7 – School pictures

Watch for details about these events in the weeks to come.  This will be the last hard copy weekly letter you will receive.  I will be completing a list of contacts by next week so you will be receiving an email weekly.  If you have not given the office a valid email, you will have to read the weekly newsletter on the website.

I am looking forward to a fabulous school year!

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Students will wear uniforms beginning the first day of school.  Please remember that

slipper type shoes are acceptable for daily wear.  Kindergarteners may wear gym
shoes every day.  Please help your children remember to complete and bring in
their summer math and reading packets.  These are due upon return to school.

Lunch Info - You are receiving a hard copy of the milk form today.  Both the Hot
Lunch Order form and the Milk Order Form will be on the website soon.  Both are
due on August 22.  Milk and Hot Lunch will begin on Sept. 4th.  Please be sure to
send a lunch and drink with your child until Sept. 4th.

Lunch Parents are still needed in some classes.  Please contact Mrs. Redpath at
the school office if you can volunteer in this capacity.  Lunch Parent Inservices are
scheduled for:

  • Thursday, Aug. 23rd at 8:15 and 3:00
  • Friday, Aug. 24th at 8:15

All lunch parent volunteers must attend a Lunch Parent Inservice.

New Faces - We have a few new faces on the staff this year.  We warmly
welcome Ms. Lindsay Bergen as the new preschool teacher, Ms. Jessica Caputo
at the new preschool aide and Bailey Ragusin as the new 3rd/4th Gr. aide.
We are thrilled to have them join our staff!

We welcome new School Board Members:  Rita Falco, Karen Lombardo, Jacki Premak
and alternate member, Stacy McCarthy.  We also welcome new Athletic Board Member
Patrick Hartle.

H.S.A. will be led by Co-Presidents: Zaira Defino and Felicia Jayes, Vice-President:
Michelle Davis and Treasurer: Elain Polanco.  Thank you to all of these people
who are volunteering in these positions.

School Supplies - If you ordered school supplies from Carlson's, they will be
delivered to your child on the first days of school.  Carlson's has kindly extended
the due date to Monday, Aug. 13th to order supply kits.  Order forms for
Kindergarten - Gr. 8 can be found on the school website.  Please be sure your
child has everything he/she will need on the first day of school.

Emergency Cards and Other Info - Emergency Cards are included in this mailing.
It is imperative that you complete BOTH SIDES of the emergency card.  You may
drop them off at the school office prior to Aug. 22nd or send them to school with
your child on the first day of school.  The sooner we receive all of these, the
sooner the School Directory can be published.  We are also planning to publish
the School Directory on the school website.  If you do not want your name, address,
etc. published, please indicate that on the yellow form.  As before I will
be sending a weekly email letter to parents.  If you do not include an email
address, it will be the preant responsibility to check the website weekly to view
that letter.  All information will be sent through the e-nvelope again this year.

Upcoming Events - You are receiving the information about Football Mania.  This
is a highly successful fundraiser for H.S.A.  Please consider buying and selling
these tickets.  We have a winner every week!  It's a fun way to enjoy the football
season and make some money for the great things that H.S.A. does for our
school.  You also receive 10% of your sales as a tuition credit.

The annual 3 On 3 Tournament is just around the corner.  Students entering Gr. 3 and up
are able to participate.  This is another "fun" fundraiser.  Everyone has a
great time and the proceeds go directly to the School Improvement Fund.  See the
enclosed flyer for more information.

Changes for the 2012-13 School Year -

Classes - Watch for information about a new class every child in Gr. 1-8 will be
experiencing ~ Health and Wellness.  Mrs. Butler and Mr. Simpson have teamed
up to create this new addition to P.E.  It will be replacing what we formerly called
"Conflict Resolution".  More curriculum details will be unfolding soon.

Spanish instruction will be offered in Grades 3,4 and 5 throughout the 2012-13
school year.  Mrs. Rita Ascenzo will be introducing the language to students in
these grades and preparing them for what they will experience in Gr. 6, 7  & 8.

Honor Roll - The St. Isidore School Honor Roll is taking on a new look with new
stickers and a different criteria.  The First Honors will be given to students who
achieve all "As" in every subject.  Second Honors will be given to students who
achieve all "Bs" in every subject.  If a student's report card is a mix of "As" and
"Bs", he/she will qualify for Second Honors.  A "C" in any subject will disqualify
a student for the Honor Roll.  We know that our students are high achievers and
want to be sure to reward that!  Students in Gr. 5-8 are eligible for the Honor Rolls.

I am looking forward to a great school year!

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

Dear St. Isidore School Parents,

Well, we’ve arrived at the last day of school. It is always a little bittersweet for me. There is no doubt that the students are ready for summer vacation, but it’s pretty quiet around here without them!

Just a few things this week:

THANK YOU – Thank you to those parents who worked this week on the Uniform Resale, Field Day and the End of Year Celebration. All three events were highly successful! God truly blessed us with the weather for Field Day. Mrs. Butler did an outstanding job planning so many fun games for everyone. With the parents help, it was a great day! The End of the Year Celebration at Xtreme Trampoline was tons of fun for the students. They really enjoyed themselves. A special thank you goes to the planning committee for this event. It was so well organized! As always, we couldn’t do all that we do here at SIS without all of the dedicated volunteers. A special thank you also goes to Chris Schoaf. She has served as the H.S.A. president for the past 2 years! I hope all of our volunteers enjoy some rest this summer! Look in the e-envelope for a letter from H.S.A.

FDN – Don’t forget to have dinner at Buona Beef on Army Trail Rd. tonight. This is our last Family Dining Night for the school year. Thank you to Christina Stinsa for coordinating these fun evenings!

School Board News – The School Board works hard behind the scenes all year long on so many different things. We have four members leaving the board this year; Debbie Ittner, Maria Malachowski, Chris McHugh and Mary Beth O’Keefe. We are very thankful for their service! New members will be appointed soon. At the May meeting the officers were chosen for the 2012-2013 school year ~ President – Rita Crotinger, Vice–President – Michelle Tran, Secretary – Mary Liptak. Also at the May meeting it was decided that $2500 of the approx. $100,000 added to the School Improvement Fund this year will be placed in the SIS Endowment Fund. This fund will benefit future generations and assure that SIS will continue to thrive for many, many years.

Extended Day – Information regarding our new Extended Day Program for the 2012-2013 school year is available in the e-envelope. Registration packets will be available when the school office reopens in August.

Lunch Parents 2012-13 – If you are interested in volunteering as a lunch parent, please contact Pam Martin or the school office. There are still several openings in Gr. 1-6.

Summer Office Hours – The school office will remain open throughout the month of June. Office hours will be 9:00-2:00 until June 29th. The office will be closed throughout the month of July. The office will reopen on Wednesday, August 1st with the same office hours of 9:00-2:00.

Join us for our last school mass of the school year tomorrow. Students will be dismissed shortly after mass.

I hope that you enjoy a happy, relaxing and safe summer.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins
