Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) - Each month St. Isidore selects one day for a 2 hour commitment to pack nutritious meals that feed starving children at the Schaumburg FMSC site. 30 individuals are needed for each date. Dates are published in the bulletin. Current dates: August 17 (Friday) 6pm-7:30pm and September 21 (Friday) 8pm-9:30pm
St. Vincent De Paul Society - Individuals with a desire to personally share their gifts of compassion and life experience, to help a neighbor in need, are invited to join this St. Isidore ministry. Your personal involvement includes: visiting families or individuals in their homes or in the parish office to determine their financial, emotional and spiritual needs and attending bimonthly meetings with the members of the society.
The CREW employment ministry - The scope of the St. Joseph the Worker Employment ministry has expanded and now includes services for all job seekers, hence the new name! Job connection services and other proposed ideas currently in the development stages make this an exciting ministry to join if you have some experience in job search, human resources, counseling or just want to help someone who is searching for employment. A coalition of other Diocesan parish employment ministries is being planned as are networks with employers and job fair hosts/hostesses.
Franciscan Outreach - Sloppy Joes are on the menu at the Soup Kitchen in Chicago every third Saturday of the month. You can be a part of feeding the 100’s of people who come for a hot meal by providing Sloppy Joes (per a “secret” recipe), purchasing hamburger buns and chips and bringing all that to the parish office on this special Saturday. Ministry members are invited (not required) to ride down to the soup kitchen to serve the hungry.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Side by Side - You are invited to help those who have made the United States their home but are unable to speak or understand English. Adult volunteer tutors are sought to teach adult students. No previous tutoring or teaching experience is required. All training and materials are provided. You do not have to speak another language. Wednesday morning and Thursday evening classes are held on the St. Isidore campus. You can volunteer today or sign up on Saturday/Sunday, August 11/12 after all masses.
