PROJECT MOSES
Project Moses was inspired in summer of 2000, when a Ten Commandments monument was removed from the Wyandotte County Courthouse lawn in Kansas City after the American Civil Liberties Union
(ACLU) threatened to sue over what it claimed was a violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution. John Menghini, an Overland Park Kansas businessman, was so alarmed by this decision that he embarked on a plan to erect beautiful, prominent monuments depicting the Ten Commandments and place them on places of worship, religious schools, and private properties.
The Knights of Columbus have joined this effort and to date there are 500 in place.
Our Council, St John Neumann 6955, is currently working to place a monument in Monticello, Indiana,
with the partnership of other local churches.

History of Our Council

St. John Neumann Council 6955 was started in 1977, with Don Everett elected as Grand Knight from members of St. Joseph and Our Lady of the Lakes Churches.  Meetings were held in the rectory basement of Our Lady of the Lakes.  In 1978 the 1st Tootsie Roll drive began.  In 1979 a building fund was started, In 1980 the Council bought land along US 24 west and renovated the on-site building.  In 1990 the council purchased the old Von Tobel Lumber Building in Monticello, our current home.  In 1997and 2010 our council  hosted the Indiana State K of C  Golf Tournament. In 2000 we won the first of many Star Awards.

Ascension - 2012

Most of the time when we come to Mass we reflect on our souls, on the meaning and purpose of having a soul, on the eventual destiny of our soul, and on how we relate to others and to God because we have a soul. But what about our bodies? What does it mean to have a body? And how should regard our bodies?
