St. John/St. Francis Knights of Columbus Council 11470 was chartered on
December 1, l994 with 35 men from
The first elected Grand Knight of the council was Dennis Clark who served from 1995 to 1996. John Calandrella served from 1996 to July 1997 when Steve Stewart was elected Grand Knight. It was determined during this time that the Grand Knight would serve for a term of two years. Stewart served the council from 1997 to 1999. Subsequent Grand Knights include Larry Bathon (1999-2001), Bob Jackson (2001-2003), Tom Johnson (2003-2005), Joe Caldwell (2005-2007), and Tim Stout (2007-present).
Membership lingered in the 30’s and 40’s for the first several years and then gradually increased each year until 2008 when our council passed the 100 member mark. Our council has received several membership awards over the past several years for surpassing membership and insurance goals as set by the Supreme Council.
During our fraternal year of 2001-2002, St. John/St. Francis was the sponsoring council in the formation of the St. Edwards council in Cynthiana with the initial members being integrated into our council until they reached the required 35 members to obtain their own charter. This goal was reached in August of 2002 when 31 members were transferred to the newly chartered St. Edwards Knights of
Since its inception, and even before, members of St. John/St. Francis have been very involved in church and community activities. Over the years, several of our members have served as president of St. John Parish Council as well as other offices within the council. Members have headed various church related committees. Many of our Knights serve in the various church ministries. We have contributed monetarily to numerous church related projects both at
Our roster as of May 2008 includes 47 First Degree members, 36 Third Degree members, and 25 Fourth Degree members. Of these 108 members, four men are considered Honorary Lifetime members.
