The Ronny Powley Center for Social Ministries, Inc.

The picture above of Jesus and children is by Gene Suchma. The boy depicted to the right of Jesus is Ronny Powley.
The Ronny Powley Center is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing basic survival services to our neighbors in need.  The Center serves persons living in East Pennsboro Township, Hampden Township, the boroughs of Camp Hill, Summerdale, West Fairview and Wormleysburg.   The Center is currently located at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 225 Salt Road, Enola, Pennsylvania, 17025.  The Center's phone number is 717-732-3642.
The Center is named in memory of Ronny Powley, a child from Enola, who died July 16, 1992, at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia of complications from a bone marrow transplant that was performed to cure his leukemia.  He would have been twelve years old three days later.  Ronny received much support spiritually and monetarily from the community.  His dream was to be cured of this devastating disease, to come home and give something back to the people who rallied to help him.  In his death, he was able to accomplish this.  The money remaining in his transplant fund was donated to the Four Diamonds Club ($25,000) and to our Center ($15,000).
Since the February 1, 1993, inception of the Powley Center, several hundred men, women and children of our community have been assisted with food, shelter, diapers, rent, fuel, prescriptions and utility arrangements for payment.

Funding for the Ronny Powley Center is provided by the member churches of the Upper West Shore Ecumenical Ministerium, by individuals, organizations, businesses and memorials.  We have pursued and have been awarded several foundation grants.  Several fund-raisers are held to assist the Center, including the Ronny Powley Memorial Golf Tournament.
Monetary donations are always gratefully accepted.  Checks may be made payable to The Ronny Powley Center and can be sent to the address listed above.  In addition to these generous monetary donations, many people throughout our community assist the Center with donations of food and household items.  These items are placed in "Emergency Boxes", which is an integral part of The Ronny Powley Center's ministry.  These items are available to the many men, women and children in our community who find themselves in difficult situations and have nowhere to turn.
For more information about The Ronny Powley Center, please leave a message on their voice mail system at 717-732-3642.
