Blood Drive: Our council is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive this Friday, August 14th, from 12 noon – 5:45 PM at the St. John Bosco Parish Hall. We need help setting up the parish hall (moving tables) this Thursday at 6:00 PM and cleaning up at the end of the blood drive this Friday at 6:00 PM. Please come by and help if you can. Even if you can’t help, please consider donating blood...and bring your family and friends that can donate as well.
Parish Picnic: Our parish is having its Annual Parish Picnic on Sunday, August 30th, after the 11:00 AM mass. Our council is responsible for helping during the picnic to ensure it is a big success. WE NEED LOTS OF HELP to pull this off. We need help in 3 areas: setting up, helping in the kitchen during the picnic, and cleaning up. The set up crew needs to arrive at the parish hall at 10:00 AM on the day of the picnic and will be moving tables, helping set up activities, etc. The kitchen crew needs to be there from approximately 11:00 AM until about 2:00 PM and will help set out dishes, help with the pig roast (as needed), make drinks, take care of plates, silverware, etc. The cleanup crew will need to wipe down tables, move tables & chairs, and whatever else is needed to get the parish hall back to normal following the picnic. Please call the Grand Knight and let him know what you can do to help at the parish picnic. Even if you can’t help, I hope you and your family will be able to attend the parish picnic. Bring a dish to pass. It is always a lot of fun and great food.
Donuts and Coffee after Mass: Beginning again Sunday, September 13th, we will be serving donuts and coffee each week in the St. John Bosco Parish Hall following the 11:00 AM masses. Our council hosts these events throughout the school year to foster a stronger sense of community within our parish. Please come and talk with family & friends, meet new parishioners, and enjoy the sweet treats. Last year we had a group of 5 Brother Knights that rotated the responsibility of buying the donuts, making coffee, and getting everything ready each week. This made it much less of a burden on any one person and worked very well. This year we would again like to have 5-7 Brother Knights work on a rotating schedule to host these events. It is a very easy and fun way to support your parish and the KofC.
Family Fun Movies: Family Fun Movie Nights are back! Our council will be hosting these movies about once per month during the school year. Everyone is welcome. The KofC sells concessions during the movies (popcorn, candy, pizza, soda, etc.). Our kickoff movie this season will be Monsters Inc. Be looking for a flyer in the next few days with the schedule of movies for the season.
Council Meetings: Our council meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the St. John Bosco Parish Hall. Officers are asked to arrive at 6:30 PM. Attending meetings is a great way to find out what is happing in your council. Please try to attend at least one council meeting each year.
Rosary: Our council leads the praying of the Holy Rosary the first Sunday of each month at 10:30 AM at St. John Bosco Church. Everyone is encouraged to join us in prayer at this time.
Catholic Men’s Fellowship Conference: Will be held on March 27, 2010 at Hackett Catholic Central High School. Please save the date. More details will be communicated at a later date.
