The Fourth and Patriotic Degree is the most colorful and enlightening Degree of our Order. The Order originally had only three degrees, but near the end of the last century, the membership petitioned for a new degree to be called "Patriotic". The Board of Directors of the Knights of Columbus approved the request and the first exemplification was held in New York City on February 22, 1900. More than 1000 third degree members received this Honor. Members receiving the patriotic(4th) degree are called Sir Knights.

Reasons for joining:

The Fourth degree is a group of Outstanding Knights of Columbus dedicated to promoting Patriotism. It works for the application of Christian principles in all levels of Government. It aks you to distinguish yourselves with heroic deeds for "God, County, and the Order". It educates it members and the world at large to be defenders not only of our Church but also of our democratic institutions. Each area has it's own Color Corps, which is the most distinguishable group of the Knights of Columbus. If a large group of men marched in a parade with no Colors or no banner, they would be unknown. But if only one man led them in a Color Corps uniform, they would be recognized as Knights of Columbus.  We make a difference in our Council, Churches and Community. Please consider taking your membership to the next level and join the Fourth Degree.
