Dayton Chapter minutes for September- submitted by Paul Ault Meeting was called by Pres. Hank Borchers at 7:30 pm. Guest speaker was Donna Feeman from the 40 Days to Life group from Beavercreek and she spoke on the prayer vigil to be held at the only remaining abortion clinic in the Miami Valley today. She passed out literature about the group and their functions. At 7:45, Pres. Borchers led the prayer and Pledge of Alligiance. He then instructed the warden to continue to allow any knights access to the meeting until 8:00 pm due to the meeting time change. Roll call was taken and all chapter officers were present with the exception of the Chapter chaplain- Fr. Ruiz and the warden. Both were excused. State officers present were LaVern Fortkamp. District Deputies present were: DD#5 Jim Mumaw and DD#8 Ed Ponder. All others were excused. Council Delegates: 500-2 5129-1 4587-1 Review of minutes. Chapter minutes from previous meeting were approved as published Treasurer’s report: Checkbook balance: $5,391.97 Income for month: $2,206.44 Expenses for the month: $ 260.00 Net Increase: $1,566.44 Committee Reports: Football awards Banquet- No Report Serra club of Dayton- Pres. Borchers asked that this be remembered by all councils. Gruhler award-no report 4th annual Rosary rally: Date is October 12th at 2:45 pm at UD arena. Crowd estimates are around 5,000 plus. NO solicitations will be taken for any donations. This years rally will be for Peace in the world and for the End of Abortions. Shrine/KofC Golf Stagg- no report 4th Annual KofC Columbian classic- will be on Columbus day, contact Jim Deime if coming, golfers still needed. VA Chairs report- No report Membership Chair- no report Diocese DD coordinator- no report State ceremonial Director- LaVern Fortkamp reported that there will be 4 degrees o Sunday the 13th. 1) at a VA nursing home, 2) St. Susanna in Mason, 3) St. Marys in Insurance agents- no report Chapter Presidents report: 1) Coloring pages were distributed for use by all chapters 2) Proposed budget- discussion was had, vote taken approved as presented 3) Degree information: Council 3724 Oct 9th CC at 6:30 pm, degree at 7. Council 500, Oct 16th CC at 6:30pm, 14504 Oct 19th CC at 1 pm, degree at 1:30 pm. 4) Pope’s portrait raffle will be held at next meeting. Please have all monies returned to DD Ed Ponder on that date. Unfinished business- Motion to write checks for the Columbian Classic and the Rosary rally. Motion made and accepted. New Business- None DD’s Reports- None Council Reports- #1610- Squires circle at Bishop Fenwick high school has 20 members signed up. Investiture will be planned asap. #3754- 9/6 Blue coat was successful, 9/7 tri parish picnic and bingo, 9/20 Suicide prevention fish fry 6-11 pm $10.00 AYCE, 9/21 Soccer challenge @2 pm Bomberger Park, 10/03 Dinner and Keep Christ in Christmas kick-off 5:30-7 pm $6 adults,$3.50 kids and $18.00 family, 10/25 Fall dinner and dance 6:30-11:30 pm Live music and only $40 couple and 10/04 Harvest festival @ 7 pm to 10 pm @ Tranfiguration Church in West Milton #4587 Council manned their world famous food booth at the Starving Artists festival in Miamisburg. It was very successful! #5129 10/5 will host Pancake breakfast for the community of St. John the Baptist in Tipp City #12912 9/5-7 Fundraising event with Vandalia Butler Sister cities group, ran adult games of chance. Re-activated one past member #14504 10/12 Council picnic @St. Francis of Assisi after 11 am mass, 10/19 1st degree 1 pm CC and Degree at 1:30 pm, 10/25 spaghetti dinner after 5 pm mass family style. Tickets available at door for $20 couple. Assembly reports: Good of the Order: Prayers were offered for the following- SK William Hartley Sr. and Jim Cahill passed away recently. For those hospitalized- Dave Rickman’s wife Cheryl, Jerry Malcolm and Jesse Riveira and for Jim Dolman who is recovering from recent surgery, and for all who were affected by Sundays very bad wind storms. Raffle: $30 winner was Margaret Mumaw $20 winner was Mike Schlorman $10 winner was Gus Battaglia 50-50 winner was Don Coty he received $19.00 Meeting was closed with a prayer for Fr. McGivney and adjourned at 8 pm.

# 14400 9/14 3rd degree held at St. Mary’s in Franklin excellent job by the Dutch Masters, Only one council provided candidate numbers attending (23), Another 3rd degree held same day just south in Mason and 1st degree held@ #500 ( Degree teams stretched thin) and we need better communication and coordination, 9/27 Fr. Chuck Memorial Scholarship Foundation Golf Outing @ Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown, $100 per golfer ( tax deductible), 18 holes, cart,scramble,shirt,lunch,dinner drinks starting @ 1:30 pm, 10/11-12 Columbus Day Open House At #14400 after masses, this is a membership blitz

Archbishop Alter- 9/21 150th Anniversary of St. John the Baptist Church with Archbishop Pilarcyk presiding. Will be in full regalia.
Msgr. McNary- will find a new seminarian to support during his time in the seminary.
Bishop Ford- no report.
