Minutes from November 2008 Meeting

Knights of Columbus Dayton Chapter Meeting 11/19/2008

Chapter Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:30 pm.  Prayer and pledge were led by Chapter Hank Borchers.  Previous minutes not available.

Chapter President’s Report

Dave Helmstetter is coming next month on December 17.

Archdiocese vocations director coming next month. Ed Ponder suggested that we have hors d’oevres and our wives.  Father will talk about the true cost of seminarians.  Maybe a Christmas Party theme with a cash bar.

Individual from Sacred Heart Devotion will be here as well.

Chaplain’s Report

The election had some bright spots – Defense of marriage, for example.  Some other not so bright spots – FOCA undoes a lot of pro-life gains.  FIGHTFOCA.com is a fight FOCA website – over 210,000 signatures so far.  Suggested writing to your congressman/senator to oppose FOCA.

Coadjutor Scherr is living at the seminary and is big on youth and evangelization.  He is hoping to increase the number of vocations.  Someone pointed out that he is a 4th Degree member.

Father Dan Shue passed away – was at St. Susanna.
