Chapter President’s Report

Brother one Brothers all we now have updated Chapter emails thanks to Mike Thomas. Let me remind you once again that it is very important that we pay our dues A.S.A.P. Tonight is the drawing for the beautiful picture of our Pope, Pope Benedict XVI


Treasurer’s Report

Beginning Balance: 2,350.15

Income for month: 287.95

Expenses for month: 1237.50

Income for Fraternal Year: 54.50

Check Book Balance: 2,875.95 (Sept. 1, 2009)

We are still waiting for Gruhler Payments from councils. I received two additional due payments tonight and will be duly noted in next months meeting. We need to sell raffle tickets our raffle ticket sales help support all our charitable causes at the chapter level.

Football Awards Banquet – Jeff Wiedeman

Letters sent to all schools and coaches on August 14th, emails were also sent. Several schools have opted out of the program I.E. Alter & Carroll, looks like we will have to close this program.


Serra Club / K of C Youth Ministry Awards – Hank Borchers

April 18 is show day, need your donation A.S.A.P. You will be able to claim as an activity for your council. We would like $150 from each council.

VA Chairman’s Report – Randal O’Connell

Our bingo held on October 18 from 1-3pm was a huge success. 4 knights volunteered form Council 14400. 55 veterans attended and we played 16 games. I would like to thank those councils who helped sponsored this event councils 3065, 14400 and 12912. Brother Terry Cooney’s travel bags were very popular. Our next schedule event on annual VA “Serving Those Who Serve” Is the Annual Good Used Coat Drive” I would like to deliver to the Dayton’ VA Center’s cloth closet as many coats that I can on Saturday Nov.14th @ 1pm. I will pick up coats from anyone, please call 1-937-704-0712 or email @ randalo@sbcglobal.net

Please vote yes on Issue 1 Compensation to Veterans; This bond issue to provide a one time bonus to Ohio Veterans who served in the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, or Iraq conflicts.

I would like to make a motion for the chapter to donate $100 for the VA Christmas Gift Drop Bags. Motion 2nd by Brother George Spears, no discussion motion voted on and passed. All councils in our Chapter can also support this great cause. 125 bags will be provided for distribution at the Veterans Christmas Dinner. 


Shrine / K of C Golf Stagg

The 6 annual Columbian Classic was a great success. 127 participants, 27 foursomes. 16 under par, 16 priests attended, Low score 62 by the Miamisburg Council. We made around $2500 profit to be split between the Serra Club and the Chapter and exact total will be fourth coming next month. I encourage all councils next year to participate.

State Membership Report – Terry Cooney

Our October Blitz is in full swing and we need members. We have just completed our first quarter of the fraternal year and the stats for membership are dismal, we stand negative at this time. In November for each new member the proposer will receive $5 toward supreme merchandise 3 members the proposer will receive $20. “Brothers if your councils are not growing your councils are dying.”

Unfinished Business

Worthy D.D. Ed Ponder asked Worthy Chapter President Tim Mangan to draw the winners name for the Pope Benedict XVI portrait. The winner of the portrait is Irene Liberti from Springboro a member of Saint Mary Church in Franklin, Father Chuck Mentrup Council 14400. Grand Knight George Spears graciously accepts the portrait to give to the winner. This is the second year someone has won the portrait from Saint Mary’s Parish.


New Business

Brother and Grand Knight George Spears On the request of Father Chuck Manning whom is president of Alter High School and our priest at Saint Mary, Father has ask me to ask for volunteers to check on past alumni to see if they have receive there capital campaign literature. Please see me after the meeting if anyone is interested.

We are wrapping up the soccer challenge for this year and last Sunday we had the District at Fenwick, attendance was way down.

Our Free-throw starts in January start getting your act together for this great kid’s activity.

Get involved in the October Blitz, push for new members.

Brothers I believe this will be a great P.F.N. dinner attend if you can and bring prospective 4th degree members

My apologies Brother Knights for the delay in the minutes, I now have two home computers to work from incase one goes on me again. I do not foresee that happening (Computer crash, I changed out hard drives reformatted plus I upgraded my wife’s unit to meet my needs)
