Ministries of Mercy - Life Ministries at 6363 9th Avenue North , St. Petersburg, FL 33710 US - Seafarer Ministry

Seafarer Ministry

The Catholic Seafarer Ministry began as a multi-denominational, collaborative effort at the Port of Tampa in 2000. The first Mass was celebrated at the Seafarer Ministry Center Chapel on May 22, 2006. That day was declared by the Vatican and our congress as a National Day of Prayer for Maritime Workers. The Seafarer Ministry serves crew members from approximately 140 countries. Volunteers are asked to be present and offer hospitality for only a few hours each month. Please include the Seafarers in your daily prayers and consider giving some of your time to this valuable ministry. Donations of the following items are now being collected for Christmas gift bags: toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, ball point pens, note pads and other basic necessities. Donations of magazines and clothing are always appreciated. For more information, please contact Deacon Max Montayre at 813-453-4857. Address: Tampa Port Ministries, 1912 Eastport Dr., Tampa, FL 33605-67443; Fax 813-242-6438; or Fr. Joe Pusateri at 813-241-4128.
