Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass |
December 12, 2008 Feast Of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our school celebrates Mass every Thursday at 10:30, normally using the reading from the next Sunday. But on Thursday December 11th we celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Back in 1992 the traveling tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe came to Browning, an event that had a profound effect on our parish. The Blackfeet people have always had a wonderful devotion to Our Lady, but this event focused our attention on the event that took place 500 years ago with the apparition of Our Lady to Juan Diego. The message then was that Our Lady wanted to help the Native American people of ALL the Americas-- of which the Blackfeet happen to be a member. So we asked her to help us. From that time foreward a new energy was born within us, and things began to happen. One of the things that happened was that the idea a Catholic school in our parish was born and the wherewithal to move foreward with it. There is no doubt in our mind that just having the De La Salle Brothers here, and our De La Salle Blackfeet school both are first class miracles. So it is with a spirit of thanksgiving that we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
