Ministries of Mercy at 1213 16th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33705 US - What is Pinellas Hope?

What is Pinellas Hope?

Pinellas Hope

Catholic Charities is forming a partnership with the interfaith community, local government, businesses and other not-for-profit entities to assist the homeless with emergency shelter . This will be done by establishing Pinellas Hope on ten plus acres provided by Bishop Robert Lynch and the Diocese of St. Petersburg.

Pinellas Hope is a camp that provides homeless men and women privacy and a safe place to leave their belongings during the day or while they are at work. The residents may sleep undisturbed, take a shower, and have a meal before going out to jobs or to look for work. There is a strict code of conduct in the camp. Pinellas Hope clients will be required to agree to rules associated with the shelter facility.  Security/background checks will be done on every prospective resident to assure, to the best of our ability, that the clients of Pinellas Hope will be safe and secure. Individuals will not be allowed in Pinellas Hope if the presence of that individual could threaten the safety of other clients and personnel.

Pinellas Hope is a community of homeless men and women supported by dedicated volunteers from all over Pinellas County. Volunteer Time is needed to assist in the operations of the Shelter, to Provide & Serve a Comforting Evening Meal. Donations are needed for operations of the facility and to assist the residents.

Target Population: Pinellas Hope is being established to serve street homeless adults by providing temporary emergency shelter. The participation in this program is strictly voluntary.

Duration:  Four to Five (4/5) months.

Capacity:  200 – 250 individuals
