Bishop J. J. McCarthy Assembly at 507 King's Highway S., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 US - "Don't mention God"

"Don't mention God"

"Don't mention God" - that's what a professor told a college student who was writing a paper on religion and its place in government!

Now we've learned this student will be penalized and DENIED the appropriate review and grade on her paper - because she mentioned God!

Help the ACLJ stand with her against this censorship with your online gift now!

The English 101 student, whose name is Bethany, was told she could pick the topic for her quarterly term paper.  She made her choice, and the professor approved - but he also told Bethany not to mention God in the paper.

In fact, in an email, he specifically said: "no mention of big 'G' gods, i.e., one, true god argumentation....  perhaps 'Religion has no place in government' would be a more viable and topical subject."

Bethany courageously went ahead - she faced the professor's intimidation head-on.  She wrote freely and accurately about the role of God in government - she exercised her constitutional right to free speech - SHE HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG.

The ACLJ is involved - we are standing with her, providing legal counsel, demand letters, and legal memoranda - because this is a threat to YOUR First Amendment rights too!

If one college professor can threaten a student with a bad grade for mentioning God in a term paper, what's next?  The coercive silencing of religious views must not be allowed.

The case of Bethany's struggle for free speech affects all of us, so we need your help today.  Please give an online donation right now to help us protect you against this kind of censorship!

Thank you!
