NCCW Members Approve New Bylaws

NCCW resolution approved at the 2001 Biennial Convention, Nashville, Tennessee Whereas, The National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) recognizes the plight of an increasing number of refugee women, due to natural disasters and civil conflict and the need to offer our support for them both financially and in the development of safe asylums, and Whereas, Approximately fifty million refugees have been helped to start a new life since December 1950 and there are still more refugees in the world now than at anytime in the past, and Whereas, The National Council of Catholic Women has instituted such programs as Works of Reconciliation—Refugee Women Emergency Fund and Works of Peace—Help-A-Child Global Fund through a solid partnership with Catholic Relief Services, Resolved, That NCCW promote and observe United Nations World Refugee Day designated for June 20th each year, and Resolved, That NCCW reaffirm our commitment to established NCCW and Catholic Relief Services programs that provide aid and recognition of refugee women.
