So what are you guys about?

The mission of FISH is simple. No, it is not to learn to swim, but it does have four tenets: 1) Be There 2) Make a Choice 3) Play 4) Make their Day Here is what we mean. First, we must "be there" by being present, open, and honest with all the issues that are being discussed. We must hear all sides of an issue and not close our thinking off. Sharing and being accepting of everyone's true feelings are key in group meetings. We must also be physically and mentally present. No sleeping or day-dreaming of winning the lottery at meeting times. It is OK to do this at any other time. "Making a Choice" refers to making an active choice to be in the moment. By being and experiencing the "now" for what it is. Only then, will be come to new and exciting places in are thinking. It also makes it fun to be with the group 100% of the time. If not, you may miss something important or a great joke. "Play" is self-explanitory but the most important of all the tenets. If the do play and have fun with what we are doing, it ceases to be enjoyable and rewarding. Thus, joking, laugher, and being silly (without fear of rejection or shame) is encourgaged and part of the group. It all becomes more rewarding when people are in a good mood. Who knows? We may have an Improv night someday. "Making their Day" centers on making sure that everyone feels they got something out of the meetings and the group. It's the age old question: What's in it for me? We can't give out money like "Who Wants to Be a Millionare," but we hope that FISH provides you with some new insights. We also want you to feel that you do recieve a postive experience every time that you are with us.
