Outside Resources

There are many support groups available to those who choose to homeschool.  Here are a few that you might want to take a look at.

  • HSLDAThe Home School Legal Defense Association.  They keep an eye on home school issues from a legal point of view. Their page shows current Kentucky legislation concerning homeschoolers.
  • KHEA Kentucky Home Educator's Association.  They provide 'best practices' for local support groups, monitor legislation and issue bulletins about things that are happening in Frankfurt, hold an annual one-day education seminar yearly, provide information about state-wide homeschool activites:  Kentucky Down Under Homeschool Day, Homeschool Day at the Kentucky State Fair, etc.
  • CHEK Christian Homeschool Educators of Kentucky.  "They are dedicated to promoting the Christian worldview in child training and education as opposed to a secular, humanistic worldview."  They support homeschool groups and give bulletins about the state legislature to ensure educational liberties.
  • CCK The Catholic Conference of Kentucky (CCK) was created in 1984 by the Roman Catholic bishops of Kentucky. Its mission is to represent the Church and the state's four Roman Catholic dioceses in public policy matters on both the state and federal level.
  • USCCB The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is an assembly of the hierarchy of the United States and the U.S. Virgin Islands who jointly exercise certain pastoral functions on behalf of the Christian faithful of the United States. The purpose of the Conference is to promote the greater good which the Church offers humankind, especially through forms and programs of the apostolate fittingly adapted to the circumstances of time and place. This purpose is drawn from the universal law of the Church and applies to the episcopal conferences which are established all over the world for the same purpose.
  • AFA The American Family Association (AFA) is for people who are tired of cursing the darkness and who are ready to light a bonfire. We are a non-profit (501(c)(3)) organization founded in 1977 by Don Wildmon. The American Family Association represents and stands for traditional family values, focusing primarily on the influence of television and other media – including pornography – on our society.
