One of the parties asking for Marriage must be a Committed, Practicing Catholic and a Member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Previous registration, including holding and using offertory envelopes, is required.
Plans concerning teh date, time and place of Marriage are NOT MADE UNTIL the parish priest has been consulted. This should be done at least (9) months or more before one hopes to celebrate the wedding. Weddings are not celebrated on Sunday, Holy Days, Advent or Lent. On Saturdays, weddings will not be done after 1:00 p.m. because the church must be prepared for the wekend Liturgies.
Pre-marriage classes with parish personel as well as Pre-Cana instructions are part of the requirements for marriage in the Province of Michigan. These are considered essential and must be participated in completely. If a couple wishes to join in an Engagement Encounter Weekend please as the priest for information. It is highly reccomended that couples take classes on Natural Family Planning and the priest will provide information on whom to contact.
