"SONGS OF HOPE" in concert |
Each year in July, BARC hosts a Block Party as a fund raiser prior to their Annual Membership meeting. They serve an enjoyable picnic meal on their front lawn and provide entertainment. The Songs of Hope show is an upbeat celebration of global music featuring traditional and popular songs from the performers' many countries.
This year BARC is hosting a concert after their Block Party and Annual Meeting. Songs of Hope is an international choir where youth from all over the world come to a performance camp in St. Paul, Mn, and then go on tour with their talents and music after weeks spent in camp preparing. BARC is so fortunate to be able to host this dynamic and delightful group. More than 18 countries will be represented during this special tour around the Midwest. "Songs of Hope is a 2012 finalist for a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award sponsored by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
The youth wear native dress, sing songs to all kinds of rhythms, dance and move to each other's music and voice each other's musical traditions. Songs of Hope is all about inspiring audiences to view cultural differences positively and to believe that peace is possible across cultural divides.
You are cordially invited to attend the Block Party and this cultural celebration in song. A Free Will Donation is being taken for the meal and also at the door for attending the concert.
BARC is also looking for 6-7 families to share their homes to house some of the limited English speaking parents/chaperones who will be along for the tour. Please call 831-2375 if you have that interest.
