St. Agnes Guild at 104 Mayflower St., West Hartford, CT 06110 US - ST. AGNES GUILD IN SUPPORT OF ST AGNES FAMILY CENTER

ST. AGNES GUILD IN SUPPORT OF ST AGNES FAMILY CENTER

St. Agnes Family Center is an archdiocesan institution providing residence and a program of appropriate care and training for unwed pregnant girls and unwed adolescent mothers and their babies, regardless of race or creed. Since it's founding in 1912, over 10,000 young women have been helped. Single pregnant teenagers are helped to carry their baby to term with love and understanding. Complete medical care, health education, counseling, academic classes, group living and planned activities with staff and volunteers help the girls to grow pesonally, educationally and culturally. An important goal of the prenatal program is to help each young woman make realistic plans for her own and her baby's future. The postnatal program offers residential care to young mothers (age 18 and younger) and their babies. Main goals of the postnatal program are to teach parenting and independent living skills. Courses in nutrition, homemaking, budgeting, along with medical care and health services are part of the program. Individual and group counseling assists the girls with relationships and decision making. HOW CAN YOU ASSIST IN THIS MINISTRY WHICH SUPPORTS GOD'S GIFT OF LIFE? Make a financial contribution in response to the annual fall membership drive. A donation in any amount automatically makes you a member! Become a representative for your parish. This involves preparing your parish mailing during the summer months (folding, labeling, stuffing and sealing envelopes). You turn your letters in to the Guild in September and we do a bulk mailing. You may have groups in your parish help you with this. (Confirmation class, Church Guild, Social Action, etc.) When you have new or good used baby clothing that you no longer need, donate it to St. Agnes Family Center. The need is continuous and ongoing. Respond to special parish collections of baby and toddler supplies. Apply to your employer for a matching grant or donation to the membership drive. Consider volunteering at the Center to teach a skill or craft, or to assist as needed. You may contact the Center directly at (860) 521-7516.
