Edge and Life Teen - what is it and why does it work?
Edge (grades 6-8th) and Life Teen (high school) youth ministries were initiated this fall (2011), and we have completely changed the way we approach teaching our youth about the Catholic religion. In addition to social fun nights we will have targeted teaching nights and youth issue nights where we discuss the current issues that are happening in our teens life.
We are utilizing a group of adult Core Members who will directly interact and provide guidance for the youth. The whole program is designed to be more informative and promote a much better learning environment. Gone are the days where students just sat and read from a book. We will be interactive and the youth will actually feel they are becoming a part of our church community.
The Confirmation program will now be called 1-8 (one-eight) it still covers all areas required by our Dioceses but it has been streamlined and truly prepares the students for this most important step in their faith. Other churches that have started this program have seen an increase in student participation and church youth interaction. The program itself updates itself quarterly and we have access to great information online that we can share with our kids.
If you want to know more about the programs, please contact our Youth Director via email or telephone (Susanne Thompson - Youth Director - (352)-796-2096 Ext. 21)
