Gainesville Deanery 2008-2009 The Gainesville Deanery is three affiliations strong and working hard to have other parishes join us! We held a leadership meeting this past fall and had a great time. The theme was an "Alice in Wonderland Tea Party." Thank you to all who came especially the ladies from Jacksonville who gave us lots of interesting information. The parishioners of St. Patrick should be in their new church any day now. We are looking forward to showing it off at the DCCW Convention in April of 2010. The ladies have been busy building membership, the Senior Dinner for shut-ins and hosting the now famous Fashion Show and Tea which raises funds for a scholarship for a student at St. Patrick School. Next year's fashion show is already being planned. Look for Capt. Julien who will be heading up "The Love Boat!" St. Pat's CCW also provides a reception for First Communion and Confirmation and help with the annual Seder Supper. Holy Cross accomplishes BIG things for a small church. The ladies are hard working and fun to be with. The Spring Deanery Meeting was held there with lots of good food and a very funny skit of "Gone With the Wind." Holy Cross CCW served 200 dinners to seniors for Thanksgiving, donated baby items to the local pregnancy center. They awarded a $250 scholarship for a Dixie County high school senior and had several fundraisers for their parish. The ladies are very active in the church and community and have over 1,000 volunteer hours. St. Francis Xavier CCW is celebrating their 30th anniversary. Congratulation ladies!! For their parish project they are hoping to raise over $1000 to purchase a video projector for the church. Their community project is "Feed the Poor" which stocks the parish food bank. The international project, "Water for Life" is underway. The ladies are hoping to raise over $1000 to top last year. The ladies are also involved in Relay for Life, their local pregnancy center and help financially with CCD projects such as Vacation Bible School, Boo Bash and Easter Egg Hunt.
