St. Benedict the African (East) is a vibrant, faith-filled, spirit-filled parish located in East Englewood. This community of faith encompasses men, women, and children who have accepted the call of Jesus to be Church. Our constant desire and ultimate hope is to embody the message of Jesus and become a reflection of the Kingdom of God for all. This means we seek to serve the Lord by serving others. We reach out to others in hope and the lived faith that is at the heart of our ministries which touch our human and spiritual needs. We believe that the Lord is present with us in these actions, which relect the truth that we do indeed belong to one another is God. When we educate our youth and adults; when we make food available to people; when we welcome people to our faith community and prepare them for baptism; when we make connections with our homebound and sick and share our Eucharist with them; when we plan for the future of our parish; when we share responsibility as good neighbors; when we advocate for people in need, we root our actions on the mutual respect to which we are called. We are constantly invited, challenged, and supported to bring the Kingdom in this way.
