Ash Wednesday – beginning of the Paschal Season until Pentecost
Dear Friends in Christ and parishioners of Saint Charles:
Our annual Parish Picnicis planned for Sunday, June 7, Noon – 3:00 p.m. This annual event provides us with the wonderful opportunity to gather for fun and fellowship, celebrating together our faith and fun. Put the date on your calendar now and circle it in red, cardinal red! There will be games and pony rides for our youth and a chance to visit, dance and eat. Please bring your specialty dish to share from your ethnic background as part of the International Food Tasting. Other new items will be included in our parish picnic – please check the bulletin for the details.
This year, each parish family is asked to support our parish festival by purchasing four books of raffle tickets, 12 tickets per book. Please return $40 – with four extra tries at the prizes. This year’s prize of $1,500 is an enticing incentive! Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will help to cover the cost of the picnic. Any funds not used for the festival will then be added to our 75th anniversary fund, defraying the costs of the anniversary year projects.
If you are not able to purchase the raffle tickets yourself, then consider asking a friend, neighbor or family member to purchase them. If you need more raffle tickets, they are available in the office. Ticket stubs and money may be returned to the church office or placed in the collection basket. The winner will be announced at the end of the Parish Picnic.
We will have three early bird drawings (with the ticket stubs returned to the drum for the grand prize drawing). The early bird drawings will be a gift certificate to a local restaurant. If you are able to help with donations for more early bird drawings, please let me know!. We were pleased last year to have fifty-nine door prizes, including an iPod™. Please know we appreciate any donation to support the picnic and prizes. Please notice the additional prize going to sellers of tickets. Door prizes will be given to only those who are present. Winner need not be present for the raffle.
As members of this parish, we count on each other to share in prayer, work and fellowship with a joyful spirit. I am grateful for the many ways you generously support Saint Charles. This will be my last picnic as your pastor – and hopefully we will be able to welcome the new pastor during the picnic. Secondly, it will be a chance to say farewell and for me to express my gratitude to you. I know that you will do what you can to contribute to the success of our Parish Picnic. If you are able to help, either with the event or with helping us achieve donations or games, please contact me at the parish office. Let us continue to pray for each other and for the success of this year’s event!
