A note shared from our Pre-Kindergarten Teacher, Abbie Masserant about the importance of "Early Learning" and the approach St. Charles is taking on it:

"Dear Parents,
Here is an example of why choosing Saint Charles was and is the right choice for your pre-kindergartner and your family.  I want to share with you an article that was given to me taken from the Michigan Department of Education’s website. This article, written November 28, 2011, declared Governor Rick Snyder has appointed Susan Broman to lead the new office of Great Start Connect.

Great Start Connect is a program that was created on June 28, 2011 by Governor Snyder to combine and coordinate a variety of early childhood development and learning programs and funds. I personally have taken classes from Great Start connect and have really enjoyed them. I have learned a lot of teaching techniques and strategies, along with many early learning projects and crafts.
A major priority of Great Start Connect and the Board of Education is to focus greater attention and access to pre-kindergarten. Broman was quoted as saying, “We need to move the function of day care from being seen as just babysitting and child care to being early learning." As I read this I was reminded of a very interesting fact Ms. Johnson, our principal, shared with me. Saint Charles has been teaching early learning for the past 28 years! Saint Charles has been incorporating and implementing methods for 28 years that Governor Snyder and Susan Broman are just now beginning to do.
As parents we need to “understand that early childhood development is important, and understand the return on investment we receive by investing in quality early childhood programs (Broman)." The pre-kindergarten program at Saint Charles has done nothing less than invest in quality early childhood learning. Our hope is that the evidence of this is shown through your children and their readiness to conquer kindergarten! As a new addition to the Saint Charles community, I feel very honored and blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of 28 years of early learning.
Happy Early Learning!
Ms. Abbie
