8th Grade Individual Graduation Pictures
Individual graduation pictures will be taken on Tuesday, November 17.  Boys will need a white, collared dress shirt and a tie.  Girls will put the robe over their uniform. No payment is required at the time the picture is taken.  Proofs will be sent at a later date for ordering the pose(s) of your choice.

H1N1 News
St. David School has had a confirmed case of H1N1.  A letter was sent home on Wednesday, November 4th alerting everyone of this news.  We are continuing to take precautions against this virus by wiping down surfaces with disinfectant, and instructing students to cover coughs etc.  If your child does not feel well, please keep him/her home from school!!  In addition, please follow these tips:
•    Wash hands frequently with soap and water.
•    Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
•    Throw used tissues in a wastebasket
•    Cough or sneeze into your sleeve if you don’t have a tissue.
•    Clean your hands after coughing or sneezing.
•    Stay at home if you are sick.  The Center for Disease Control recommends you wait 24 hours after your child’s fever ends to send him or her back to school.
•    Get a flu shot for the seasonal virus.

Sports News
Girl’s volleyball games will be starting in a few weeks.  More information will be coming.  If you haven’t already done so, please turn in the waiver/health form and checks.

For parents who didn’t pre-order sports sweatshirts, tee-shirts, and hoodies, they will be sold at the games.

The games coming up are as follows:  On 11/21/09 7/8th grade boy’s basketball game at Richmond Rec at 10:00 AM.  They will be playing St. Patrick.  Also on 11/21/09, 4/5th grade boy’s basketball game at St. John at 10:00 AM.  They will be playing St Patrick.  


Safety Warning
To protect our student’s safety, we ask that you follow our rules for drop off and pick up.  Please do not double park at any time!!!  Stopping alongside a parked car to drop off/pickup is considered double parking.  Double parking in front of the school is subject to fines assessed by the Richmond Police Department.  Please see pages 51-52 of the St. David School Handbook.

Thanksgiving Food Donations
This year, St. David Church and School will once again be giving out Thanksgiving food baskets through St. David’s Pantry.

The following is a suggestion of what to send in:
Pre-K     Cranberry sauce and stuffing mixes
K Sugar and flour
1st canned vegetables, and fruits
2nd relish items (pickles, olives, Cheese Whiz,
     etc.) and canned tuna
3rdcanned pumpkin, canned evaporated milk, pie shells                                
4th butter, rolls or breads, crackers, boxed cereal
5th rice, beans, pasta
6th canned vegetables and fruits
7th gravy mixes, canned broth or soups
8thpotatoes, sweet potatoes, instant potatoes,
    canned yams
We also need donations of turkeys and hams.  Please turn in food on or before Wednesday, November 18th.

If you know of any needy families, our donations will be sent to St. David’s Pantry.  The food is distributed on Fridays, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St. Mark’s Hall located at 159 Harbour Way, Richmond.


Santa Breakfast Vendors Wanted
We are getting ready for our annual Santa Breakfast.  If you, or someone you know, is interested in having a vendor table at the breakfast we are now accepting applications.  The breakfast will be Sunday, December 6th from 8 AM until 1 PM.  The cost of the table is $35, which includes breakfast.  Payment must be made by money order, payable to St. David School.  Call the office for more information.

Help Wanted
St. David School would like to get in touch with its alumni.  If you are interested in doing internet research and would like to earn parent hours at home, please contact Jeanette Beard at 232-2283.


Wish List
St. David School would appreciate the donation of the following items:
•    Good quality gardening tools, such as shovels, and loppers
•    A wind up type radio for use in emergency situations, or money towards the purchase of one
•    New US flag-Size 9 ½’ x 5’
