Five wars, fifteen pastors, three different orders of sisters, and many blessed moments later we continue to come together as a family of faith. This quilt was made in 1995 for our 125th anniversary, depicting our four church settings.
1869: The first church, seating 150, is erected on Burnham Street.
1870: In May, a three day mission was held. This mission marked the beginning of our parish and the dedication of the new building.
1897: A second, larger church with a high steeple is erected and dedicated by Bishop Rademacher.
1898: The rectory is built south of the church facing Castle Street.
1914: Fire destroys the church and the rectory is badly damaged. A brick school is under construction on Burnham Street.
1915: A combination church and school is completed - the third church.
1957: Ten acres of land are purchased on the west side of Lowell with Bishop Andrew Grutka head of the new Diocese of Gary.
1958: A new limestone church (our fouth) seating 405, is dedicated. A new school, convent and rectory are also built.
1983: School adds library, classroom and Boney Hall.
1994: Convent is converted into Parish Ministry Center.
1999: Plans are made for the addition of 7th and 8th grade.
2001: Our first 7th grade class graduates.
2001: Master Planning for renovations begin.
