Protecting God's Children ~ Virtus Program

It has been mandated by the Diocese of Gary that all employees and all parent volunteers must go
through a training session.

Parents/Guardians who want to coach, chaperone field trips, help out in a classroom, etc, must be trained and complete the necessary bulletins that tie in with the program. This applies to all adults
involved in both the School and CFF.

This is a necessary step in making sure we protect God's children. It is vital that all parents who have been
trained prior to this upcoming school year register online and read the required bulletins.

Mrs. Yvonne Weaver will be conducting a training session on Wednesday, August 12th at 6:30 pm in the school.
Please call the ministry center at 696-7307 or the school office at 696-9876 to register.

Deacon William R. Hathaway

Deacon Roberto Mendoza

      Active in the Hispanic Community..........

In 1994, the Diocese of Gary began a four year theology based program to prepare men and women as Ecclesial Ministers. Since then over 200 men
and women have graduated from the program and received certificates of
completion.

Ecclesial Ministers are defined as lay men and women who have
been prepared professionally for specific roles of service and leadership in
our parishes and our diocese. The four year program includes 24 hours of
theology, spiritual formation and pastoral development.

This program is a prerequisite for the Deacon program.  In September of this year, 2009, a new class will begin on Tuesday evenings for men and women interested in becoming an Ecclesial Minister or a deacon.

Two informational meetings have been scheduled for those wanting to learn more about the program. One session will be held on Monday, January 26th, and another on Wednesday, January 28th. Both begin at 7:00 pm, held at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 9292 Broadway in Merrillville.

You need only attend one of the informational meetings. If you would like more
information, contact Anne Verbeke at 219-769-9292, ext 280, or by email at

averbeke@dcgary.org.

A country that accepts abortion is not teaching people to love, but rather to use violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of peace is abortion. ~Mother Teresa
