Come Meet Our New Seminarian

St. Edward Seminarian Mark Cregger was elected to serve as a Peer leader for the seminarians at Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois.
As a Peer Leader, Mark will participate in meetings with the Rector of the seminary,
Fr. Dennis Lyle, to discuss the needs of the seminary community and to identify areas that need to be addressed.
Mark will retain the role as Peer Leader through the first quarter of the 2009-20010 academic year.
Please continue to keep Mark and the other seminarians of the Gary Diocese in your prayers.

In 1994, the Diocese of Gary began a four year theology based program to prepare men and women as Ecclesial Ministers. Since then over 200 men
and women have graduated from the program and received certificates of
completion.
Ecclesial Ministers are defined as lay men and women who have
been prepared professionally for specific roles of service and leadership in
our parishes and our diocese. The four year program includes 24 hours of
theology, spiritual formation and pastoral development.
This program is a prerequisite for the Deacon program. In September of this year, 2009, a new class will begin on Tuesday evenings for men and women interested in becoming an Ecclesial Minister or a deacon.
Two informational meetings have been scheduled for those wanting to learn more about the program. One session will be held on Monday, January 26th, and another on Wednesday, January 28th. Both begin at 7:00 pm, held at the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 9292 Broadway in Merrillville.
You need only attend one of the informational meetings. If you would like more
information, contact Anne Verbeke at 219-769-9292, ext 280, or by email at
averbeke@dcgary.org.
