Ministers of Hospitality: Greeters and Ushers Greeters welcome worshipers at the doors of the church, distribute worship aids and bulletins, offer assistance or direction. Ushers are responsible for the environment, the collection, and factilitating seating in the church. Servers help the priest and the people praise God. They carry special objects and carry out special actions at Mass. Readers proclaim the Word of God. A reader must be good at public speaking and appreciate the sacredness of the Word of God. Ministers of Holy Communion speak of their own faith in the Eucharist and call forth the faith of the person with whom they share communion. Some Ministers of Holy Communion take communion to the homebound and hospitalized. Music Ministry serves the congregation to touch the heart and bring God's message through musical expression. Music ministers include instrumentalists, cantors and choir members. Choir Chimes are provided for special events and may be played by adults, teens, and children. Art and Environment volunteers determine what should be used during the liturgical seasons of the year and how to best present them to enhance the liturgy. Sacristans care for the condition of the vessels, vestments, and linens for liturgy. Prayer Chain - An ongoing prayer chain is available for those who are sick, anticipating surgery, or in need of prayer for any reason. Prayer Shawls - Knitted and crocheted prayer shawls are made for those who are hospitalized, homebound, or in need of special prayer support. Evangelization - Welcome Home Catholics is an annual effort to reach inactive Catholics and those who are searching for a church.
