St. Mary Mystical Rose Parish at 24040 Armada Ridge Rd., Armada, MI 48005-4683 US - Armada Fair Food Booth

Armada Fair Food Booth

St. Mary’s Food Booth
August 13-19, 2012

Dear Parish Member:

In the coming weeks, you will hear a lot about the St. Mary’s Food Booth & Parking Lot Fundraising. It has been a part of the Armada Fair since 1957. It began in a tent with sawdust floors and within three years evolved into a major operation housed in the current building. If you talk to parishioners who have been involved with the food booth since the beginning, they can tell you a lot of interesting stories about its early development. The food booth has undergone many changes in the past years but one thing has not changed, St. Mary’s continues to be known for its famous chicken dinners and homemade coleslaw.

From the beginning, volunteers have made up the work force of our Parish’s largest fundraiser. Profits raised by the food booth in the last three years has been over $75,000.00! With your help, we can have another successful year.

The booth is open August 13 through August 19 (seven days) from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. In addition, our parking lot is used to park fairgoers (thanks to the hard work of  our K of C Council) throughout the week. Many hands are needed in the areas of cooks, preps, parking lot attendants, cashiers, dishwashers, tray & trash collectors, servers, order takers, booth cleaners, and runners. Shifts are typically  four hours.

Another area that we need help with (this is done in the Church kitchen), is making our homemade coleslaw.  We make the coleslaw on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings of fair week.

Another time we need help is on  Wednesday, August 8,  at  6:30 p.m. with the cleaning of the food booth and the setup of the picnic tables. We also need help unloading the supply truck on Saturday, August 11 at 9:00 a.m. Please call the Parish Office if you have any questions on these positions or if we can help you in any way.

How can you help?

This year we are asking parishioners to bake pies, as we did many years ago.  Please check your parish bulletin for detailed information. In lieu of baking, you may place a monetary donation in the collection basket, in an envelope marked “PIES.”

We encourage all parishioners (ages 12 & up) to volunteer. 12 through 17 year olds should be accompanied by a parent/responsible adult.

This is an important event for our parish. Everyone; young or old; new to the parish or not; should join in because the whole parish benefits. Besides it’s a great way to meet the people you pray with.

Your help is greatly needed and there are a lot of different jobs to be done, There is something for everyone to do!

Sign-up has begun! Sign-up schedules are located in the Church Hall awaiting your name!

Join in, have fun, and together let us continue this wonderful tradition at St. Mary’s. We value your hard work in making this fundraising week a success.

God Bless you! We look forward to seeing you at the Food Booth!

Most Sincerely,

 Fr.Siaosi Patau
& the Food Booth Committee
