Click on the News navigation button to the left to find out more. 2008 Auction Early Bird Tickets are now on sale!! Call the office to get your tickets now before we sell out. Early bird price is $35.00. After Oct. 15th price goes up to $45.00.  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR 2008 AUCTION - Please consider being a part of our school's biggest fundraiser of the year and help plan the Auction scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2008! Incoming donations are down this year due to economic conditions. If the parents of St. Mary's can all pull together in acquiring donations for the Auction event, it will help reach the school's fundraising goal. Take a Star from the Lobby Tree, purchase the item, put your name on back of Star and turn in the Star with the item. Come up with your own family donation and provide details on Donation Form-found on Lobby table or print out from the Website. F.A.S.T. Reading Program The F.A.S.T. Reading Program, developed by Steve Tattum and featured on WDIV-TV last winter, is coming to St. Mary School in Rockwood. This innovative program, which has been adopted by prestigious Detroit area private schools such as The Grosse Pointe Academy, Detroit Country Day, and Cranbrook, combines multi-sensory phonetic instruction with high-interest adventure stories and is delivering results for beginning readers, as well as for at-risk older students. Students are assessed as they begin the program and placed at appropriate instructional levels, promoting individualization and success. A key element of the program is a magnet board with color-coded letter combinations which allows students to build sounds and words and helps struggling readers unlock the phonetic system. Richard and Kathy Genthe have been instrumental in bringing F.A.S.T. to Michigan. They discovered the system as they sought reading help for their dyslexic son and were so impressed with his results that they have sponsored teacher training and provided assistance for local schools to implement the program. The Genthe family's generous contribution for materials will allow St. Mary's to adopt the program school-wide beginning this fall. Scrip  If you use gas and if you buy groceries you can help our school! Using our scrip program you can make money for St. Mary's School. Here's how: 1. Go to the website (www.shopwithscrip.com) or complete the hard copy form. If you use the online form our enrollment code is: 195514567LL. 2. Purchase scrip for things you normally use such as gas, groceries, restaurants, home goods. You help our school just by taking this extra step in your purchasing routine. Sound difficult??
