WELCOME TO GRADE 6!!! Sixth grade is a very exciting time! Students have left “middle school” and are knocking on the door of “junior high”. They are transitioning from childhood to adulthood, and with that comes much responsibility. Their subject content is growing too!
Religion will focus on the meaning of the Ten Commandments and a deeper understanding of the Mass. Science will cover themes such as evolution, dynamic Earth, exploring the Universe and ecology. In Social Studies, 6th Graders study the geography of the Western Hemisphere, Europe and Russia. Literature will stress reading strategies, literary terms and techniques. In Math, they will work on decimals, fractions, and story problems, as well as hands-on equations to prepare for Algebra. English will concentrate on grammar, writing, communication skills and vocabulary development. They also have lots of fun “extras” such as Spanish, Computers, Art, Phys Ed and Music.
Finally, the 6th Graders will spend an entire week at Science camp....watch for more information.
