Scrip is a fund-raising program for St. Mary’s School. This program allows you to purchase gift cards from hundreds of retailers. These are the same cards you would purchase in the stores themselves. But when you buy the cards through our program, the school receives a percentage of the cost as profit. In return, St. Mary’s gives you back half of that profit. Of course, you also have the option of donating your profit back to the school.
A minimum order of $1000 per year (an average of $100 per month) is a requirement for each family.Here’s an example of how it works: Kroger has a discount rate of 5%. If you were to spend $100 at Kroger for a period of 10 months, your total would be $1000. Kroger gives the school $50 back which would then be split in half with you. You would receive a check for $25. The more you purchase through the Scrip program, the greater your earning potential. Each retailer sets their own rate of discount which range from 1.5% to 20%.
***To all families: please be advised that the ordering process is changing. We will no longer be using paper copies to order scrip. Beginning on Monday, October 1, all families will place their own orders online through the Scrip website–www.shopwithscrip.com. This means you will be able to order anytime that is convenient for you. Payment, in the form of cash or check, will need to be sent into the school office by Monday morning (no later than 9:00 am.) Each week, the Scrip coordinator will put all orders together and send them out Monday morning. This will ensure delivery by Thursday afternoon. The ordering process is very simple. An initial family registration on the website will have to be done first. After that, it’s just a matter of logging in with an e-mail address and a password. You can order anything that GLScrip has in stock. They list all retailers, give the amounts of the cards, and have details regarding the usage and rate of each card. In order to register, you will need two things:
All orders placed on the website by Monday at 9:00 am, will be ready on Thursday afternoon. We are excited about the changes with our Scrip program and feel it will give more of our families an opportunity to benefit from this great fund- raising program. Anyone can order through our program. It may be used by family members, friends, co-workers, etc. A summary of how the process works: 1. Place an order online 2. Send payment into the office by Mon. morning 3. Your order will come into school on Thurs. afternoon to be picked up or sent home with your child 4. You will receive a profit check from all of your orders in May each year.
A limited amount of popular retailers are kept in stock for immediate purchase. They include Marathon, Speedway, Applebees, Toys R Us, JC Penny, Kohls, Borders, and many more. The scrip sheet on the St. Mary’s website shows which ones are normally in stock (indicated by an asterisk). There is usually someone outside the office selling Scrip and answering questions in the morning and as school gets out. It can also be purchased in the office during the day.
