St. Michael Parish at 609 East Fifth Ave, Flint, MI 48503 US - April 9-12, 2009
From the Pastor
Now it is already Holy Week. I encourage you to take note of the schedules for the Holy Week services and have active participation to pray over, reflect on and celebrate the divine mystery of our redemption.
After the 40 days of penance and prayer we have come to celebrate the joy of the Lord’s resurrection. So let us prepare spiritually by our active involvement and participation in the Holy Week celebration of the Lord’s suffering, death and resurrection.
The Easter celebration is the foundation of our Christian faith and so I encourage you to come as a family, especially involving your children, and celebrate together the Lord’s resurrection no matter where it is taking place whether it is at St. Mary or at St. Michael parish.
The Easter Triduum is a concrete dramatization of the Lord’s suffering for our redemption.
Let us celebrate it as one family of God and be enriched by the Lord’s blessings.
I would like to see more involvement of our children and so I encourage the parents to bring your children in time for these liturgies, especially if they are involved in the liturgies as servers, readers or to help in the liturgy in whatever way possible. The parents are the first one to she them the way.
Holy Thursday Service will be at St. Mary parish beginning at 7 pm, Good Friday Service will be at St. Michael beginning with Stations at 12:30 pm, Tenebrae service will be in St. Mary at 7 pm on Good Friday, and Holy Saturday Service will be at St. Mary beginning at 8 pm.
As you know already, mass on Easter Sunday will be as usual at 9 am in St. Michael (with children’s special participation), 11 am and Spanish mass (at 12:30) in St. Mary parish.
May God bless all of us as God’s family and guide us with the spirit of Easter in our life of holiness.
Fr. Santhiyagu
