St. Michael Church at 1951 Kingston Road, Deford, MI 48729-9761 US - We welcome you into our sacred space
We welcome you into our sacred space
We believe in the sacredness of everything that exists. Therefore, when we say "sacred space" we mean all the facets of our existence as Jesus's Household. We see our faith community as disciples on the journey: not perfect; yet, committed to create space and time in our lives for Jesus, and for our sisters and brothers.
We treasure stewardship of time, talent, and treasure, which we consider the way a Catholic Christian gratefully responds to God's many blessings.
We joyfully invite and welcome every sister and brother to worship, to serve, and to enjoy time in fellowship with us and to share creative ways to make the community wholistically grow.
We are a small rural community in the Thumb of Michigan, which came into being by our founding fathers' and mothers' faith, love, and many sacrifices.
The village of Wilmot, which is located three miles and a half North of Kingston, was once a prosperous town.
The Catholic families in the area bought a building here and converted it into St. Michael's Church. . The first Mass was celebrated on October 18, 1935.
Land was purchased on Kingston Rd, near Wilmot, in 1938 and was developed into a Cemetery.
In 1952, the men of the parish and the community donated their labor to erect a new church on this site. The first Mass was celebrated in the new church on April 26, 1953. A rectory was erected next to the church in 1959.
In 2010 this parish celebrates the 75th Jubilee. Our Faith has remained strong and continues to grow.
