the History Page
Most of the founding congregation were poor immigrants from Ireland’s troubled northern counties — Tyrone, Armagh, Derry. Just a decade later on May 8, 1844, St. Michael Church, along with St. Augustine Church, was burnt to the ground in what is generally termed the “Nativist riots.” ____________________________________________________
