St. Michael the Archangel at 502 West Front Street, Monroe, MI 48161 US - Altar Servers
| Altar Servers |
Altar Servers assist the Priest during Mass - they set the pace for the entire assembly. For example, altar servers lead the procession by carrying special objects like the cross or the candles, hold the Sacramentary (Book) as the Priest leads the assembly in prayer, prepare the altar for the Eucharist, assist in the presentation of the gifts, assist in the 'washing of hands' ritual and assist the Celebrant as needed.
Any boy or girl, 5th Grade and older who belongs to the parish community at St. Michael the Archangel can be an altar server. Servers are usually assigned one Mass per month and asked to serve other liturgical celebrations (such as weddings, funerals and Holy Days).
Server training is usually offered in October and November. If you are interested in becoming an altar server and are responsible and a good listener, please let your school or REP teacher know. If you are homeschooled, please contact the parish office.
