St. Michaels Catholic Church at Corner of W. High St. and Antwerp Dr., Hicksville, OH 43526 US - Where does it say this in Scripture?

Where does it say this in Scripture?

Bible with Cross
I got this at another website .But I think it is an important subject as it hasn't been taught as far as I know in all of our Church's. Why I don't know for I really beleive we will have to answer someday for not tithing. After all doesn't what we have all go back to God providing it to us in the first place.
Comments: I have an important question. I want to know why a Catholic church can insist it's members tithe. Where are the scriptures (old and new) and the Catholic tradition behind this philosophy? I hope this doesn't sound off base, but I have been Catholic all my life and now facing a challenge that grates against my understanding of being a Catholic (all are welcome). In my heart I can't be the only one who has great faith, but too many bills!! Thanks for listening and please respond.
.
Note from Rick - Tithing isn't a philsophy, it's a command from God. A pastor isn't doing his job if he isn't teaching his people to tithe. Some Scripture ref's. to consider include: Lev 27:30-33; Deut 12:13; Matt 6:2-4; Luke 12:32-34; 1Cor 16:1-2; 2Cor 9:5-14 and the most to the point verse is, Malachi 3:8-10.

I can't blame it all on our priests not teaching us. I think if were reading our Bibles we would see it for ourselves. Let it not just be words on the page . But a message from God of stepping out in Faith to do it. God will provide and He will take what you give and use it to do His will which is for the good of us all.
